For sale is a used but in good condition 1980 300SD (W116 body style) from Mercedes Benz. It's an automatic transmission diesel. Currently has biodiesel in it but you can run diesel or filtered waste vegetable oil if you want. Inspected till 11/2012 in Virginia. It is not perfect you will find many small things are not in perfect condition, it runs strong and has high compression and you should be able to get another 100,000 miles out of it pretty easily if you take good care of it. The good: rear axles replaced, new fuel lines at injectors, new differential fluid, all belts are new, suspension is in great shape (very smooth), breaks are good, transmission shifts as it should (you will notice these old MB diesels shift harder), upgraded to CD/MP3 player, all dash lights are new, rear door seals are new, NO RUST that I can find, automatic climate control works. You could drive this car cross country right now. Also new battery that is under warranty. Tires are in good shape. Power steering fluid and filter replaced. new oil and fuel filters. New hood pad. Three keys come with it. Power windows all work. Front seat springs are new and seat MB text is in very good shape. Engine mounts 6 months old. Glow plugs about 1 year old. Alternator 6 months old. The bad: AC does not work but compressor spins, fuel level sensor does not work (use odometer to tell when to fill), some cracks in dashboard but minor, rear windshield has some discoloration and needs it's seal replaced some water gets into cabin and trunk from that seal. Seats could use some extra padding or re-padding depending on your preference but the seat pads are worn. Auto door locks only work for a few minutes after you shut off the car (there is a small vacuum leak in one of the doors I think).
