Vehicle Detail
Very original 1978 Buick Lesabre Custom - I purchased this car about 5 years ago from the BoyScouts were the car was donated by its original owners. I have the current pink slip (free and clear) along with a copy of the original (1978) pink slip from the original owners Excellent car for a do-it-yourself person or great a candidate for some type of custom vehicle. The Good: This car was very well cared for, only for the last couple years has it been outside, otherwise it was garage kept as evidenced by the original paint still on the car. The paint still shines well for being almost 35 years old. All body panels are near perfect, only one small repairable ding on one of the doors. No rust anywhere. Front clip and bumper are perfect. All lights and lenses are free from damage. Only damage is to driver side of rear bumper, sheet metal is fine, see photo. The Interior had been upgraded with seats (front and rear) from a 1984 Buick Park Avenue, they are velour, plush and in great shape. The Headliner and sun visors were reupholstered about 5 years ago. Dash is in excellent shape, no cracks. Carpet is 3 years old and perfect. The Drive-train is solid. The Buick 350 4 barrel runs smooth, no knocks or weird noises, burns and leaks no oil. Auto trans shifts smooth with no hesitation or slipping, does not leak.Brakes work well and stop the car even. Parking brake works well.Heater works (A/C does not). Radio words (Tape player does not), front power windows work, back are stuck in the up position. The quartz analog clock still WORKS! The not so good: While the body is in near perfect condition, the vinyl top is weathered and needs to be removed and/or replaced. Its all there, no lose ends or tears, its just worn out.The water pump has a small intermittent leak and will need to be replaced before the car is driven for any distance.Power steering pump has minor a leak, works fine just need to keep an eye on the level. The tires don't have a lot of wear, but they are older and sort of a cheap brand - they are ok for local driving but I would replace them for freeway driving. The battery is a few years old and I while it is currently holding a charge I would recommend replacing it.Speedometer is broker, actual mileage is unknown. The Choke only comes on when its really cold, therefore semi-cold starts are difficult, once started and warmed up it runs fine. Might need a new choke and/or a rebuilt carb.DMV!! The tags currently read "2009" however I have paid the registration thru 2011, with $109 being currently due, I have paperwork to prove this.Smog check will be the buyer's responsibly - As you can see by the DMV website (go to this link: http://www.bar.ca.gov/pubwebquery/vehicle/pubtstqry.aspx and put in the license plate #078 UYG)) it has passed its last 6 tests. I believe the choke will need to be repaired for it to pass this time around. This auction has no reserve and I've put a low opening price because I need the space in my drive way and really would rather have this vehicle go to someone who can appreciate it rather than sell it as a cheap throw-away transportation car to someone who would beat it and dump it, she deserves better than that. Email with questions. The car is available to see in the West San Fernando Valley, email for more information. . It is the "factory" engine however, I don't think its ever been removed or changed.
