Up for auction is a 1962 Ford Thunderbird. We started a full restoration of this vehicle a few years ago for one of our customers. As seen in the photos we accomplished many upgrades, mostly to the power train. The vehicle was driven throughout the project. Unfortunately, a couple of years ago the owner passed away and his family has requested us to sell this vehicle. Description: We started by rebuilding the stock 390 cu in motor with a balanced .030 overbore bottom end with Edelbrock aluminum heads and Performer RPM intake with a Holley Street Avenger 770 CFM carb and MSD ignition. The Motor was dynoed at 465 HP and 485 lb. ft. torque. A high performance rebuilt 700R 4 speed automatic transmission with custom bell housing adaptor and rebuilt 4.11 posi rear was installed. Vehicle has a rebuilt starter, alternator and new fuel pump. A custom dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers and headers have been installed. The power train currently has 673 on it miles since rebuild. The vehicle has 65,000 original miles. The stock front drum brakes have been upgraded to 1965 Thunderbird disc brakes. Front and rear suspension completely rebuilt. The instrumentation has been upgraded to really cool T.P.I. Tech gauges. (Speedo, Tach, Oil Pres., Water Temp., Volt Meter, and Gas.) JVC speakers and a Autosound “secret audio” radio unit, hidden in the center console has been installed Vehicle is equipped with 16” American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels with B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A’s 245/50/16” front and 295/5016”. As seen in the photos the engine compartment has been painted with blue metallic paint, as was planned for the exterior. The body is very solid throughout with several minor bubbles in the quarter panels and several dings and minor surface rust. The interior is original and the seats have several rips. The power glass is in excellent condition and works perfectly. We have been driving this car daily and the car runs well and is very powerful. This is an awesome solid vehicle waiting for a continued restoration.
