I am selling my 2003 Baja, I am the only owner for the car. I was getting ready to sell it when the engine started to knock. I had two different mechanics at different shops ( I know and trust both of them) evaluate the problem. Both said it is a bad bearing in a rod. The repair which would basically be a tear down and rebuild was estimated at $3000 +- $500. The other option is swap in a engine from another car. I have found several for sale between $1300 and $1800 plus the shop estimated about $1500 to do the engine swap. So either way you are looking about $3000 to repair. If you can do the swap yourself or the rebuild then you can save quite a bit of money. Since I was about to sell it anyway I am going auction it off as it is but if I can't get enough for it I will repair and then sell it. These trucks/suv sell on ebay for $7k to $10K. So you have an opportunity to get a nice car/truck that holds it value for about 1/2 that cost. The interior is in very good condition, everything works, it has an upgraded stereo with subwolfer, no rips in the seats, it is a little dusty from sitting at mechanics yard but very nice on the inside. The exterior has one spot on the driver side front where the clear code has chipped off otherwise it is in good exterior condition. I got 23 - 28 mpg. It also has a trailer hitch with a standard light connection. I used it to pull a motorcycle, nothing heavy, about 1000lbs total. I tried to show as much as possible with the pictures feel free to ask for more pics and ask any questions. The car is currently sitting at Ted's Auto on US41 in Ruskin florida if you want to see it. The car will run and it driveable but both mechanics said it wouldn't go far without something bad happening. SO I highly recommend you not attempt to drive it home unless you live really close.
