Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1978 Pontiac Trans Am in original condition. It is a project car. They don't make cars like this anymore...and there is no other with a screaming eagle on the hood!. There are many new parts I purchased for this restoration and they are included. Parts alone are worth well over $1,500. There is no motor with this car. The block on the orignal 400 was beyond repair. I have not gotten a chance to acquire another motor but I have priced re-maufactured units available on the internet for about $1,800 with a warranty. The transmission is a turbo 350 automatic. I am moving and can't take this car with me. My loss is your gain. This is a southern car and I have documentation to back that up. It has a clear title. There is surface rust on the roof, hood, front passenger fender and passenger rear quarter by the window. There is also a repair behind the passenger rear tire. I have not dug into it but looks solid. The floor is solid except for a few small holes that can be patched. Other than that this car is solid all doors and trunk close soundly. No evidence of any accidents. Mostly all of the engine externals are included. The block, heads and intake are the only items I junked. All the glass is there except for the front windshield which was cracked when I got it. The fuel tank has been drained and wire brushed, looks good. It will need a new exhaust system and the seats will need to be covered. You will need to repair or replace some of the plastic trim parts.Other than that this car just needs a nice finish paint job. The tag says this is a true trans am built in Norwood, Ohio. The interior color was camel. I chose to change it to black and silver once I saw I could not do an original restoration due to the motor issue. So all of the new parts have this color scheme. I have seen these, with a non-numbers matching engine, bring between $15,000 and $20,000 after a decent restoration. My research says they are hard to find as many were driven hard and /or totaled out by the late '80s. If you are good with body work, you can get this on the road for very little cash out of pocket. With a new 400 or 455 this baby will scream...nothing is quicker in stock condition. Here are only some of the NEW parts that are included (see picture too): Headliner, carpet, door panels, window felt, many chrome trim parts, chrome door sills, rear arm rests, console arm rest pad, dashboard cover, center wheel caps, floor mats, rubber seals for trunk, doors and cowl/hood. Also included is a complete set of decals in silver and black (bird and T/A logos). I also have a set of clutch/brake pedals to throw in as I was going to convert it to a manual transmission. I JUST TOOK THE PICTURES>>>NEVER MIND THE DATE STAMP ON THE PHOTOS>>>I FORGOT TO UPDATE THE CAMERA BEFORE I TOOK THEM! I will answer any questions you have. Good luck bidding!!
