Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my beautiful, classic, '59 Volvo PV544. This car is in running condition and drives like a Volvo should. There is a leak in the copper head gasket, so she boils off a little antifreeze until the engine heats up enough to expand and seal the leak.Obviously, this should be repaired if you intend to drive her often or far. Otherwise, a fairly solid vehicle. There are some areas that have rusted through in the floorboards on the drivers side, front and rear. The trunk has a few rusted out spots as well, though a repair was attempted by the previous owner, he lacked the welding skill to make the job complete. The exterior was recently painted, also by the previous owner, it looks really good- kinda makes up for the sloppy welding in the trunk! I am the third owner, the first owner left this car parked in a carport since 1970, the only apparent reason for doing so was a bent rim, which was replaced with the spare in the trunk and down the road she went. I could imagine driving this car, with it's uni-body construction, a bent rim must have felt like impending doom! So, the paint job is not original, and I rebuilt the original air-filters to accept a newer, more easily replaced version. The rest is all there, as Volvo intended, including every piece of interior and exterior chrome trim. I really hate to let this car go, but with a wife, two little boys and a new baby daughter- there just aren't enough seats!!! From Volvo's original 1959 sales literature, which is also included in the sale: This sensational Swedish-built 5-passenger sedan combines high speed performance of a sports car with the safety, roominess and comfort of the ideal family car. It gives amazing economy- up to 35 miles per gallon- yet boasts a dynamic 85 hp twin-carburretter sports engine that's brilliant! ( yes, the grammar and punctuation are as printed in the original ad) * a recent windstorm blew the pictured carport over the Volvo and left some scratches on the passenger side rear quarter panel and the rooftop as well. ** in the carport sits a 1958 Lloyd Alexander from Borgward Germany in desperate need of restoration, if the winning bid for the Volvo meets or exceeds $3,250.00, I will include the Lloyd and the 10'x15' carport that is in the picture!!!
