First, Ebay does not recognize this truck due to the vin number, year and the fact that it is an import. That is why I have listed it as a 1980. It is really a 1983. This is a serious truck, it will drive through and over just about anything, it will drive through 5ft of water. No expense was spared in the build, nearly $50,000 spent so far, I have a file on the truck with receipts to back this up. The truck runs, drives and can be used for some serious off roading. However the project for me was not complete. It it's current state it lacks serious low gearing and also horse power. The final stage in the build of the truck was to be engine, transmission and transfer case. I have decided to sell the truck though and move on to another project. I also have four other "toys" and am thinning the herd. I am thinning down to one truck. This model Nissan Patrol was never sold in the USA, it hails from Germany. It was imported by the original German owner in about 1987 when he moved to the USA. I am the third owner and have had it since about 2003. When I bought it the truck was nearly 100% stock and original. I built it for a full bodied off road toy. I have a clean title on the truck and it was imported before stiff regulations by the government. This was not a gray market import. *Engine, SD33 N/A diesel: The original motor is in the truck now. It is an inline-six non-turbo diesel. It is also on 24 volt. The motor has about 330,000 kilometers on it. Supposedly the original owner is a Benz diesel mechanic and rebuilt the motor at one time. When I bought the truck it came with spare head, pistons and other related parts from the rebuild. It runs, I have done work to it over the years to keep it running and somewhat happy. My plan was to eventually replace it with another engine. The motor is not blown or anything by any means it just has some issues (always has) and lacks power for this truck. If you wanted to run this motor I suggest a rebuild. I also have a factory turbo for the engine but it too needs a rebuild. You can get rebuild kits for the engine right here on Ebay for about $1,000. The exhaust is a straight 3" pipe and is loud. Right now the problem with the engine is no batteries, some wiring issues and glow plugs made be dead. The 24 volt always was kind of a hassle for me, the 24v alternator though is new. I can start the engine with two good batteries and it runs fine after warm up, it fact it runs fairly well. But again it lacks power in this truck. The motor is pretty tough though and has refused to die since I have had the truck, it also is fully water proof besides the air intake. On top of this it has very little electrical. I honestly think the best thing to do is just buy a v8 and slap it in the truck. Or put some sort of domestic diesel in it. You could run this motor in it for years but you will not really like having 90 horse power without having low crawler gears. *The axles: these are serious gear made by Portal-tek out of Salt Lake City, Utah. They are based on a Spider Trax Spider 9 axle but have a custom portal box attached. This gives 18" of ground clearance under the pumpkin on the diff. They have a 3.0 gear set in them but the final ratio is 6.0 due to the portal reduction box reducing gearing. The axles are loaded with 4340 chromoly shafts all around, front axles are RCV CV joint. The low pinion Ford 9" 3rd member is flipped upside down due to the portal box. A special oil slinger is in there for this. It also gives massive clearance under the pinion. Both axles are loaded with ARB air lockers. These are a 1.5ton axle rated for 500hp. What else is there to say other then this is the nicest portal axle out there. *Transmission & transfer case: These are the stock gear boxes currently in the truck now. It is a 5spd tranny that is fully synchro'ed. I had it and the t-case fully rebuild, even put new synchros in the tranny, which were NOS Nissan. They are both in excellent condition. However they do not provide the right gearing for serious rock crawling. The crawl ratio in the truck is at about 58:1 right now. It really needs to be at least doubled for crawling. This would also help greatly with the lack of power in the non-turbo diesel. Turbo the diesel and fix gearing and it will be ready to go for the rocks. I have rock crawled the truck a fair amount and gearing I find is it's biggest downfall. On other types of terrain it does alright. There is a Nissan made PTO box attached to the transmission, it powers a Nissan made PTO winch with Masterpull rope. The transmission mounts are custom made and use a vulcanized Chevy leaf spring bushing. *Suspension: it is all custom. The rear is a triangulated 4-link and the front is a 3-link with a panhard. It rides on Ballistic 2.5x16" coilovers, the race version with the big shaft. The fronts are piggy back and the rears are remote reservoir. The frame was heavily plated during the suspension work. it was also chopped off by about 2ft in the rear and a new frame built from DOM tube. The wheelbase was stretched from the stock 95ish" to 113". The truck is 82" wide. Fox bump stops are at all four corners. The thing flexes like mad!! Massive rods ends were used along with solid 7075 aluminum links. Links are long and flat. *Tires & Wheels: Maxxis Creepies and Walker Evans beadlocks. Tires have some light rock rash but are at about 90% tread. The spare has never been on the he ground. No rips, cuts or tears in the sidewalls. I have ran these with 5psi and no problems. I am actually running a 2" wheel spacer right now because I like it a bit wider but you can run it either way. *Seats & interior: Master Craft 3Gs in front on sliders with Crow 3" lap belts. Ready for 5-point it you build a solid attachments for that. The rear bench is a Master Craft Rubicon and fits like a glove. The batteries sit behind the rear seat along with the fuel cell. This truck gets about 300 miles in low range off road before needing a fill up. CNC cutting brakes levers mounted between the seats. Dash is all stock along with gauges. There is even a cool overhead JDM Nissan tilt meter and altimeter. The is no carpet, long gone. Door panels are stock. Steering wheel is aftermarket. The heater works well. *Body & frame: it is clean and rust free. This truck lived in Bakersfield, California until I bought it. As mentioned the rear chassis has been hacked off and new chassis fabricated. The rear fenders have been trimmed, a lot. It has been boxed back in with sheet metal and sealed up from rust. The front fenders are trimmed. The lower valance panel below the grill is gone. The LHS door and sill is smashed from rocks. However the door still works fine. The hard top is fiberglass and removable, it is in good condition. The transmission cross member was cut out long ago and a beefy 3/8" belly skid is in it's place. As mentioned the frame has seen heavy plating and reinforcing. The glass is all good in the truck however the windshield has a small crack across the base above the de-frost. Rear window shocks are new NOS Nissan. There is bar work on the truck but it really wasn’t finished. The tire carrier however is done, very buff and also can carry two 5gal jerry cans. *Steering & brakes: Full hydraulic steering. A TC pump on the motor, orbital valve replaced the stock steering box and a beefy ram on the front axle. The front axle also has a buff 1/2" plate and chromoly bar for the skid on the ram. With the RCV axles turning radius on the truck is killer. The master cylinder for the brakes is from a GQ or Y60 Patrol and is new, it uses the stock master vac. Brake lines on the whole truck are new. It runs Wilwood 4-piston calipers with large rotors. Braking on this truck is very good. The rear axle has a second set of calipers for the cutting brakes. What this truck really needs is to lower the gearing and up the horse power. The best route to go on that and the biggest bang for the buck would be Chevy v8 anywhere from a junkyard 5.3L to a $10,000 Turn Key big block. An auto tranny and an Atlas t-case would be best. Those are not the only options though. The SD33 was put in International Scouts here in the USA in the late 1970s. As a result there is not only parts for the motor here there are adapters and gear box options from NV4500 to 727 auto using a Scout bellhousing and adapter. Google is your friend! Search IHOnly. As I say above I have nearly $50k in the truck as it sits now. My reserve on this auction is set at $25,000. If you do not want the engine, tranny, t-case and PTO stuff I am willing to wheel and deal a bit. However, as the truck sits now I need $25k. I could go on and on about this truck so if you have questions just message me. You will likely never seen another 160-series left hand drive SWB hardtop Patrol for sale in the USA again, especially on portal axles and 16" coil overs! Here is your chance to own something nobody else has and it will also run with some of the best trucks out there once finished, it damn near does already. I have lot's of video of this truck on YouTube, search user PortalPatrol. I will ship this truck anywhere in the world, however you get nothing until your funds clear my bank. The deposit is not refundable after 5 days of receipt.
