RK Motors Charlotte 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US Phone : (704) 596-5211 Email : information@RKMotorsCharlotte.com Camaro Pro Touring Twin Turbo EFI 383 900 HP 6 Speed As one of the fastest-growing segments of the classic car hobby, Pro Touring combines the killer good looks of vintage muscle cars with technologically advanced powertrains, re-engineered suspension components and luxury that is befitting of a modern car. This slick black and silver 1969 Camaro pushes that classic looks with modern performance formula right up to the edge of unbelievable. It features a leather lined interior, a modern drivetrain and suspension, and an E85 compatible 383 cubic inch twin turbo V8 that gives a whole new meaning to the phrase 'Ultimate Street Machine'. Originally produced as a GM code 53 Glacier Blue car, this Camaro has been substantially upgraded since leaving the GM factory 42 years ago. During a recent build, its clean vintage steel was restored to better than factory standards and displays no dents, dings or waves anywhere. Upon completion, it was covered in a deep glossy black that still maintains an awesome wet look and has been buffed to a glare inducing shine. Fantastic metalwork resulted in panel gaps that are much better than when the car originally rolled off GMs assembly line and greatly contributes to the arrow straight sides and mile deep reflections you see here. As many car guys know first-hand, it's awfully easy to fall in love with the shape of the '69 Camaro, and for this build the owner decided to let that perfectly sculpted body do all the talking. There are no questionable graphics or modifications to any of the cars OEM panels with only a factory optioned steel cowl induction hood and factory stenciled dark silver stripes hinting that this isn't just another run-of-the-mill '69 Z/28 RS. This adherence to a proven and unilateral factory appearance results in a car that has been finished to an incredibly high standard and looks dangerous just sitting still. The key to a good custom build is creating a car that, at first glance, looks completely natural and simple but upon further examination actually contains many labor intensive alterations and custom touches. At the front of this '69 Camaro, a custom stainless grille looks awesome between chrome trimmed Rally Sport headlight doors that house new headlights. Below the grille, the cars straight front bumper has been painted gloss black to match the body and sits above clear Rally Sport marker lights with amber bulbs and an SCCA Trans Am style chin spoiler. At the sides of the car, brightwork is kept to an absolute minimum with the only chrome pieces being small square front and rear marker lights, like new door handles and chrome 'pillars' attached to the quarter windows. The cars like-new glass is outlined in straight stainless trim that has been meticulously painted black to match the body. On the cowl panel you'll find black painted and detailed stainless wipers, and on the doors, second generation Camaro fiberglass sport mirrors are a natural fit. At the back of the car, the dark silver stripes flow across an optional SCCA style rear decklid spoiler to a dark silver rear valence that includes pristine chrome trimmed tail lights and a modern centered "Flex Fuel" badge. Below the silver rear valence, the car's rear bumper features correct optional bumper guards and has been coated in the same deep black as the front bumper and body panels. Simple yet striking, this Camaro looks every bit as good as it runs. If you think the exterior of this car is impressive, you're going to love what's under the hood. Painted in the same dark silver that stripes the car and adorns the rear valence is an E85 compatible 383 cubic inch small black Chevrolet V8 that cranks out roughly 900 horsepower. At the top of the engine, a nicely polished Gale Banks twin turbo system sprawls, across the engine bay to the sides of the block where each polished turbocharger is covered in stainless panels and breathes through polished tubes and K&N style synthetic air filters. Located at the bottom of the Banks system is red finished Aeromotive electronic fuel injection which is controlled by a glove box mounted Fuel Air Spark Technology (F.A.S.T) programmer. That fuel injection system features Bosch 65 PSI fuel injectors and includes a full set of stainless and braided lines that are complete with a passenger's side mounted fuel pressure gauge. Below the fuel injection system, a polished Edelbrock intake, which is complete with a chrome thermostat housing, sits between natural finished Dart Pro 1 aluminum heads. On top of those heads, GM Performance Parts cast aluminum valve covers have been covered in body matched black and silver, and feature hand painted white detailing on their raised Chevrolet letters and bowties. Behind the intake, an MSD billet distributor receives power from a fender mounted MSD ignition box and sends it through MSD Super Conductor plug wires. In front of the engine, a polished Be Cool aluminum radiator is cooled by two electric fans and sends water through fresh hoses and polished tubes. Sandwiched between the fans and the silver engine block is a chrome alternator, a polished power steering pump and a silver painted water pump which are all held on by billet brackets and spin new V-belts via billet pulleys. By now, you've certainly noticed the custom radiator cowl that, along with the wiper cowl behind the motor is fully finished with black paint and silver stripes which mimic the top side of the car's hood. And speaking of the hood, it's completely finished with gloss black and a chrome latch, and is held up by trick billet braces that substitute a hydraulic cylinder for springs. At the sides of the motor, factory inner fenders are painted in the same dark silver as the cars stripes and engine block, and at the back of the motor the firewall is covered in gloss black. There really is nothing more to ask for from an engine build than what you see here. This 383 looks spectacular, fires and idles perfectly, and accelerates like a rocket on premium fuel or E85 ethanol. Behind that 900 horsepower twin turbo 383 is a modern Borg Warner T56 6-speed transmission that's easily up to the task of transferring the engines power to the ground. It feels much smoother than an old Muncie rock-crusher and won't cost an arm and a leg or two months of your time to fix if anything ever goes wrong. That T56 sends power through an aluminum driveshaft to a Ford nine inch rear end with stout but interstate friendly 3.50 gears. Up front, a heavy duty sway bar sits in front of new tie rods with polished tie rods ends and out back, new shocks hang above new ceramic coated traction bars. Braking is managed by a retrofitted GM four wheel disc system. And the cars exhaust is comprised of stainless pipe that appears to be three inches in diameter and flows around a deep sump oil pan through an X-pipe into polished Magnaflow mufflers to exit out of turn downs behind the rear tires. The bottom of the car is just as clean as the top of the car with satin black floors, chassis and drivetrain components that present as new and stainless hardware that shows no weathering at all. Just in front of the rear bumper, a new stainless fuel tank sends fuel through an Aeromotive electric fuel pump and fresh stainless fuel lines. The finishing touch is a set of sweet 17 inch Budnik wheels that are mounted to 245/40 BF Goodrich T/A G-Force radials up front and 275/40 BF Goodrich T/A G-Force drag radials in the back. Inside, the already excellent stock appearance of the '69 Camaro is augmented by well thought out custom pieces. The seats are completely custom units that are stitched in silver and feature black leather with suede accents. The front buckets mimic racing seats and feature satin aluminum head rest inserts along with satin aluminum adjustment handles. Between those seats, a traditional '69 Camaro console features a custom silver stitched and aluminum flanked leather shift boot for the black and silver T56 shifter and aftermarket mechanical Autometer Cobalt gauges where the Camaro's factory 'four pack' usually lives. In front of the passenger, the factory fresh '69 Camaro dash has been upfitted with a glove box mounted F.A.S.T. fuel injection programmer and an ashtray mounted Autometer Cobalt boost gauge that is framed in aluminum. Sitting next to that boost gauge is a covered toggle switch that preps the motor for either premium gasoline or E85 ethanol, depending on which way it's flipped. In front of the driver, the dash houses an Autometer Cobalt speedometer and tachometer in aluminum bezels beside direct fit controls for the cars Vintage Air climate control system and an Alpine CD player. Connecting the driver to the pavement is a polished Budnik steering wheel that is mounted to a polished steering column which even includes a polished shift light. All door panels are straight from the factory and appear new with nice stainless trim and chrome door and window hardware. Below the seats, like-new carpet is protected by carpeted mats with silver "Camaro" scripts, and above the seats, a tight black headliner flows to a rear package tray with two Pioneer speakers. The trunk is equally well-finished, with correct spatter paint, matching carpet and an Optima gel cell battery. Who doesn't want a 1969 Camaro that can accelerate, turn, and stop better than most new cars? This Pro Touring Chevrolet retains all of its classic muscle car feel and adds explosive horsepower, improved handling and a bit more comfort to an already awesome driving experience. Nothing is simply 'adequate' about this car; it's a killer street machine with absolutely evil good looks that is exceptionally well-done and ready to hit the road tomorrow. Call now!
