You are bidding on a 1960 Rambler American 2-Door car equipped with an automatic transmission. Purchased the car in late summer of 2008 from California, 3rd owner and had it shipped to the Kansas City area. Since we've had it, we've only driven it approximately 400 to 500 miles. We put new tires, battery, points & spark plugs on it. Starts easy and runs smooth. The odometer shows 2496 but I assume that is NOT the original miles. All lights, brakes and wipers all work. This vehicle wasn't equipped with a radio and does not have one. The body is solid and has a few minor dents. No major rust or damage. The paint looks original and NEEDS a new paint job. The paint is cracked or missing in some areas, mainly the hood where you can see surface rust in the picture. Transmission is solid and shifts smoothly. The interior paint is really good. The dash is in great shape and looks good. The seats, door panels and headliner all need work. The seats look rough but are still functional. The interior door panels are ripped and loose. The headliner is dated and has some tears. The engine is fairly clean but does tend to leave a drip of oil here and there. We've never had to add oil but did have it changed when we purchase the car. The engine 'pings' when accelerating. I was told it was because I was using 87 octane gas. The car was last inspected in 2010 and is currently insured. The underside of the car is fairly clean with no apparent damage. I did not replace any hoses, belts or wiring but again, everything seems to be functioning properly. It will easily go 65 mph but we usually drive around 50 to 55 mph. If you are looking for a racer or a muscle car - this is not the car. It has been a fun car for us to drive to town and back, but we need to sell it to help fund our vineyard adventure. Feel free to ask any questions and I'll try to answer them as good as I can. Definately, a head-turner ! Never tested the mileage but 'google' this model and it showed it gets in excess of 40 mpg. Starting out the price at $1,800 and will sell to the highest bidder above that. There is no reserve. The car is located near St. Joseph, Missouri and can be viewed if interested.
