Vehicle Detail

1969 Volkswagon Bus Double Cab Transporter Custom. California bus with black license plates. Rebuilt engine and gearbox plus more. Nice all steel custom work done years ago. NO RESERVE This is a nice running 69 bus that has been converted to a double cab truck years ago. Now you have everything you need. Stock Walk-through front seats with rear bench seat and storage area plus now it has a great pick-up bed. The value in this bus is a unique one-of-a-kind find. Nobody else has one! The custom steel work is pretty good. Bed sides tops are rolled over steel. Still has rear hatch opening up into the bed area. With a camer shell or canvass bows and cover on the back you could sleep in the truck bed and have access to the cab. Nice fabricated steel truck tailgate made from another hatch with welded in latch pockets. The restoration is well on its way. Drive it as-is or finish the cosmetics. This bus has a rebuilt 1600 dual port. For those who are in southern California, all the work was done by Blodgett;s VW in San Bernadino. The complete engine has about 3k on it. The brakes have been completely rebuilt. New shocks. New battery, NOS ignition key switch and bracket $250. New EMPI wheels and tires. New tinted windshield installed with new seal. Purchased the rebuilt gearbox, installed when the new engine was put in. We have all new door and hatch seals ready for install. We were waiting to paint the bus first. You will need to finish the body prep and paint or drive it like it is for a bit of a rat rod look. The bus has not been fully restored other than mechanicals and is in original condition. Have 1 gallon of Centari 1960s VW tan paint. $300 worth. The paint does not go with the bus for this money, but if you like the tan we will sell it at a discount. We plan to use it on this next project bus we came across unless you think you can use the tan paint. The bus currently has a unique vintage roof rack we rebuilt with new wood that goes with the bus. The rack is removable as is the ladder for rack access on the side. Sorry, the vintage longboard stays with me. About average condition for its age with usual body wear. We have spent $5K on the bus repairs so far not including the purchase price. $3500 for complete engine and all brake work. $500 for gearbox. $1100 for wheels and tires. We installed a nice tach in the dash where the blank off plate was for a clock. Needs paint and body work and some interior upgrades. There are no carpets or mats yet. We recovered the front seats with some REAL brown leather we had. The steel bed is about 5 feet wide and 4 1/2 feet long. The sides are 14 inches high so you get an addtional 14 inches of bed length with the tail gate down. So starting the auction with just our repair costs so far and NO RESERVE. This is a fair place to start as the buyer can enjoy the bus and still turn a profit when sold later. Bus is sold as-is for this kind of money. My ebay record speaks for itself and you can call the VW repair shop and validate the running condition. Decided to move on to another project bus that popped up so cashing out of this bus before we finished everything we wanted to do to it. Contact us for questions or if you need to buy it now and can't wait. We have a 100% feedback for being fair. Very unique bus that always gets attention. Has great utility. For those who can not come for the bus, I have ample room to store it for 30 days or more while you get delivery fiqured out.On Feb-25-12 at 22:23:18 PST, seller added the following information: BONUS: Just saw that I have a Vanagon bench seat that folds down into a bed. Forgot I had it. I am including this with the listing. It is more comfortable than the old style bench seat that you see in the bus right now. This will make a nicer seat and you can work it into the back and replace the existing bench seat so that this one folds down into a bed. For those who are asking about storing the bus, yes, no problem keeping it here while you find transportation. Still need to pay for the bus on time but it will be fine here for 30 days or more while you get delivery worked out.
