Vehicle Detail
1982 HONDA FT500 ASCOT Ferrari Rosso Corsa RED Up for bid is a very rare find; a 1982 HONDA ASCOT FT500. This rare bike has been in storage for decades and was previously owned by a 82 year old motorcycle enthusiast in Hillsborough, California and it was recently pulled out of its slumber. The bike only has 2,960 miles. This cosmetic restoration of this bike was a labor of love. First starting with a senior owned classic with hardly any use. The tank, front and rear fenders and side covers were cosmetically restored with a new PPG base coat clear coat 1970 FERRARI 365 DAYTONA ROSSO CORSA RED. The carb and fuel system was cleaned and it was tuned. The front master cylinder was replaced as was the front steel brake line. It has original calipers, they were a little sticky but did loosen up with use. It has a brand new battery. This particular bike has been unused most of its life, the guages show some age wear as some of the aluminum. The engine is very tight as a 2,960 mile Honda should. It fires right up and runs very strong. It likes the choke when cold but fires right up after two quick turns of the wrist. Everything seems to work great on this bike. I did break the right turn lens when taking these pictures. I will be replacing it. The rear tail light has a crack which I pointed out in pictures and video. Some of the aluminium has some age pitting which can be detailed out but I just ran out of time. The right side cover original plastic tags have been the victim of age and the attachment of the side cover is with double sided velcro. The tires on the bike are in good shape despite the age. This is a 30 year old motorcycle that has hardly been used. It runs and drives great, This is a classic early FT500 ASCOT 500cc single Thumper which was Honda's tribute to the famous ASCOT PARK IN GARDENA CALIFORNIA. The FT500 is a bike that is similar to the VT500 in original Honda marketing. To pay tribute to flat track racing a market that was overlooked by the Japanese in mass marketing of motorcycles in the US. The FT was the flat tracer with a 500cc Thumper and a chain drive. The FT500 has a lot of low end torque which is a gas to ride. This bike is being sold AS IS without warranty This bike has not been on the road for since 1997. The State of California keeps record for 7 years and with no activity the vehicle history falls off the California DMV computer. It is being sold on a bill of sale. If you are looking to ship it out of California we can arrange a new "Title Only" for export. The DMV cost is an additional $50 BIDDING STARTS AT .99 cents http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascot_Park_(speedway) 1982 HONDA ASCOT FT500 Please click on arrow in center of picture and then click on FULL SCREEN on bottom right of screen and turn it up CLICK ON FULL SCREEN i 1970 FERRARI DAYTONA ROSSO CORSA RED Please click on arrow in center of picture and then click on FULL SCREEN on bottom right of screen and turn it up CLICK ON FULL SCREEN Dont miss out on this rare opportunity to buy a very cool classic HONDA being offered this week for a very low reserve Additional Information, Please Read Before BiddingTHIS BIKE IS BEING SOLD WITH A BILL OF SALE IT IS OUT OF CALIFORNIA RECORDS AND WILL NEED VIN VERIFICATION TO GET DUPLICATE TITLETHIS CAN BE ADDED FOR OUT OF STATE OR OUT OF COUNTRY BUYERSTHIS IS A 30 YEAR OLD BIKE IN VERY NICE CONDITION THAT RUNS STRONGBIKE IS SOLD AS IS WITH NO WARRANTY Please only bid if you intend to buy.
