Vehicle Detail
Luckily, my credit card was still technically valid. Now this was a superior machine. Ten grand worth of gimmicks and high-priced special effects. The rear windows leapt up with a touch like frogs in a dynamite pond. The dashboard was full of esoteric lights and dials and meters... that I would never understand. This is what the good Doctor thought of the 1971 Cadillac Eldorado convertible. Here it is the ACTUAL CAR Johnny Depp drove in the Movie Fear and loathing in Las Vegas. This car comes with a letter of Authenticity from the Premiere Studio Rentals. I bought this car ,the Hero Car, and the Stunt Car five years ago. The stunt car was sold last year for 6 grand. That car needed A LOT of work. It was after all the stunt car used in the movie and others (read below). This is the Hero Car referred to as the White Whale. It is in AWESOME condition and with only 26,000 actual miles. I found these cars because I am a cadillac nut. I have always liked the 1971 Eldorado because of its pre emission engine and its higher compression rating. The 1972-1976 eldorado was a similiar looking car but not nearly the performance monster as the 1971 with an unrestricted 501 8.2 liter engine. 1971 was also a very low production year for the return of the Eldorado convertible. The eldorado convertible was last produced in 1966 then no more Eldorado convertibles until 1971. This was the first year for the front wheel drive Cadillac convertible. From a collectors perspective this car has a lot going for it. It is the first year in that model series. (it has a metal grill all the others 72-76 had a plastic grill) It is a low production vehicle under 6,800 ever made means less then 2000 still exist. It is the highest horsepower front wheel drive Cadillac and......It was used in several movies. If you want a super rare low mile collectible that is sure to only go up in value PLEASE KEEP READING!!!! This car was used in the Following movies Fear & Loathing (Main Hero Car) Rat Race (Main Hero Car) Love and Support Dragnet XXX (opening scene yes that is Tony Hawk Driving) The car was also used in the following Television Series Martial Law (Hero Car Sammo's Multiple seasons) 24 (fox series) Cut to the Chase Please remember this is the Hero car not the stunt car that was used for the stunts in the movies. This means this was a trailer queen used very rarely and not destroyed and beaten to hell and back. Now to the nuts and bolts...after all it is a machine. When I got this car I did the following repairs to it. New top and convertible motors, The scissor top goes up and down perfect. This was installed by See's auto trim here in Columbia Mo. Bill See is the best around. The top was replace and bows latches hinges cables motors glass rubber seals and canvas all new. The cost to replace the top was nearly 4,000.00 The Flywheel was sticking so it was replaced and so was the starter alternator and ignition. The brake lines the brake pads the brake master cylinder the power brake booster and portioning valve have been replaced. The rear air shocks have been replaced. All of these repairs were done by Privitt auto at a cost of @ 3000.00. Privitt Auto is the best around if you have a classic. All four tires are new with less then a two hundred miles. The rear tires still have the original inner tubes in them. Yes these are actual miles. Brand new battery. This car starts right up and stops on a dime. It drives like you are sitting in your living room. It handles flawlessly and everything works except for the disconected A/C. I would drive this car to California and back today if I had to. The Car was originally a Triple White Eldorado. It was painted blue by the movie studio. I have kept the exterior and interior in the original condition as received from premier movie studio. This is the same front seat Johnny Depp Tony Hawk Benicio Del Toro Seth Green Vince Vieluf and many others have parked their butts on. The interior and exterior have signs of being 31 years old. Very little work would be required to make them both shine. I have always wanted to paint the car white but decide to keep it as recieved from the studio. The pictures make the car look better then it is. It is a classic 20 footer looks great 20 foot away. It has a scratch on the door and has white overspray on the rear quater?? The blue paint is cracking in places and exposing the original white paint. The hood is a donor from a 72 I still have the original hood but it was dog eared pretty bad. I have most all of the missing trim pieces. As I stated earlier I am into Cadillacs and well I currently have three convertibles and a Limo. I drove this car a total of 27 miles last year. I prefer to drive my 66 Cadillac convertible and still have only put 1500 miles on that car in the last two years. I just dont drive this car enough and it has been living in the garage entirely too long. Ideally I would love to find a fellow cadillac enthusiast to own this car. A fan of Hunter would also be good owner. This car is a rare machine with a one of a kind pedigree. I understand these cars aren't nearly as valuable as other Cadillac convertibles. I was suprised when the stunt car brought 6 grand. It needed a top and a lot of under hood work. I am not sure what this car will bring but am keeping an open mind. I will entertain offers and trades but ultimately prefer to deal in cash. If the car doesn't bring a fair price I will just keep it and dive it another 27 miles this year. I am a straight shooter and will give you the honest answers best I can. Please ask any questions before bidding. I will answer them promptly if you prefer send me your phone number and I will call you. Dont miss out on your chance to own a piece of Hollywood history. This car is ready to roll and be enjoyed by its new owner. I will also include some other items that were left in the car. Sorry I am keeping the doctors bag :) Clean title in hand and I can help load or even deliver the car for you provided you pay for gas and my return trip.
