In June 1973,our Ghia was sold (fact. price = $2,774) by Orval Swett of Bob Brunner Volkswagen for delivery to a Casper, WY family according to the remaining bits of the original paper document folder from the glove box. Now our precious Ghia must be sold to send the kid to college. Garaged for her entire life as far as we can determine, but driven in her youth on winter Wyoming roads, she comes with a bit of rust as might be expected as she is almost 39 years old. We know of no major altercations with other vehicles during her lifetime. Owner two apparently acquired her in November, 1992, with 64,178 miles. When inherited a dozen years ago and appraised for estate purposes, she had 82,573 original miles and was described as being a "3rd Month of 1973 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia", a fact that is confirmed by her door plate. In November 2005 she got a new fuel tank and fuel pump in a $2,495.97 service at Denver's Downing Street Garage as well as a carburetor overhaul, a steering stabilizer and rear brake shoes & drum. At the time of VIN verification, after being repainted, she had 82,614 miles, and 82,669 when having her muffler replaced in 2008 by Autoimports at a cost of $460.15. The plastic surface on the rear deck beneath the back window is not in great shape and the glove box facade faux wood plastic is wrinkled. She had "some interior wear" according to the appraiser in 1999 including typical center dash-board cracking. One viewer asked about a photo showing a silver oblong item on the bonnet near the wind-screen: that is the original owners manual we placed on the car for the purpose of taking its photo. The car has the least attractive seat covers, however, they have done the job to protect the front seats' tan upholstery which is still in fine condition. There is a little 1 cm x 2 cm hole in the red plastic part of the right rear upper tail light. She comes with a new car cover, still in its box. She got a new battery this year but needs detailing and will eventually want some work on first gear. We love (and hate to part with) her but she should go to a new home with someone who would enjoy tinkering with, and driving, her. Sellers use PayPal and require an immediate deposit to our PayPal account of $500 to confirm the purchase. Buyer to arrange for pick-up and delivery.
