1988 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4 door 4.0 6 cyl 5 Speed 4 wheel drive. Body and interior in very good condition for a 1988. I bought this Jeep a couple of years ago because it really looked good for an older Jeep and I was looking for a restoration project this being the last of the Jeep brand prior to takeover by Chrysler. The engine runs strong but has a slight knock so I was thinking that I would look for another motor to put in it. Needless to say I never did as it ran ok for me and I was not using it for transportation but only occasional drives. I replaced a lot of parts including the headliner front end parts radio brakes etc. It has good tires and a newer clutch. Everything works including heat A/C power windows (a little slow). There really is no rust on the undercarriage and only a couple of rusted spots behind rear wheels on fender rocker panels. the glass is all good. The drivers side door lock cylinder does not work and the power locks are sketchy The exhaust is a bit loud as I replaced muffler with cherry bomb without a tailpipe hooked up however the engine pipe converter and pipe to muffler are good. The Jeep has very tight front and rear suspension with no wobbles or issues. The 4 wd works great. The 5 speed shifts well but occasionally is difficult to get into first when at a stop but I always manage to shift through a couple of gears and back into first. It runs straight and level at highway speeds. The interior is in good condition with only one worn spot on drivers seat. The coolant reservoir has a small leak. The body is in good condition with a few small dings and scratches here and there but nothing significant. Like I said earlier the engine does have a slight knock. When you first start Jeep it takes a few extra spins for it to kick over but it always does. The engine is very quiet until it warms up then you can hear what sounds like a valve tap. This Jeep is good for someone who wants to restore it or beat around with it but would not recommend it for daily use. I have included a few photos of exterior of Jeep. The only reason that I am selling Jeep is because I recently moved from upstate NY where I had a huge property to Woodbridge NJ with a tiny driveway. No room for Jeep. I have clear NYS title in my name. I am starting listing at $500 no reserve $100 due within 24 hours of auction closing by PayPal. Must be picked up in Woodbridge NJ 07095 within 7 days of auction closing with balance paid in cash. Jeep is drivable and should be fine to drive home. Also, forgot to mention includes newer class 3 reese hitch receiver and trailer wire/plug (actually towed my boat a couple of times with jeep last summer.
