Vehicle Detail

Unimog is in good running condition selling as is. Needs a new canvas top to keep the rain out. Other than that it is ready to rock n' roll. I have parts for a dumping bed conversion aswell. Please message me with with all offers any questions! 1961 Mercedes-Benz Unimog 15,000 lb. winch new distributor, plugs & wires new timing chain mileage is 45,000 km (not miles) new battery cables new wood bed 4WD 2.2 liter gas engine Formerly used by Belgian NATO forces! On Jan-16-12 at 21:47:44 PST, seller added the following information: CLEAR TITLE IN HAND!On Jan-17-12 at 12:27:21 PST, seller added the following information: The unimog was previously owned by a CAT machine technician/mechanic who is liaison to the big open pit mine truck purchasers. He did regular maintenance in terms of gear/bearing oil and lube, coolants and so on. The only mechanical thing he told me he replaced was the timing chain in the 220 gas engine, which as a military machine has a different head and cam shaft as it is tuned to low compression for slow speeds and power. He told me he pulled a Peoria Fire Truck from the ditch a couple of years ago - has locking 4WD. I pulled several people out last winter - it is rugged, tough and meant to be a work horse. The frame is straight, very heavy steel, the drive-train is in good working order; brakes are tight and strong; the suspension is heavy-duty military and solid; the electrical system is fully functional save for the blinkers which did not work when I bot it and I never bothered to have them fixed, so don't know what's wrong. It comes with an after-market 15000 lb. winch which I used twice to aid in the felling of two large trees. As well, it has a pipe-extended air intake which the previous owner mounted so as to ford 4ft creeks in his cross- country driving escapades. It is a 1961, and while it obviously had a second paint job (the camouflage) at some point, because it has been used (45,000 km), there is some natural surface rust on the frame, bed and cab, it is very sound and fully functional. The wooden bed was replaced by the previous owner and the troop benches discarded (wood) as they were rotten. It was used by the Belgian NATO forces for many years, as described by the previous owner (cab tarp design warrants this) but comes with no documentation as to this authenticity. A true pleasure to romp through high drifts, cart mountains of firewood, pull heavy objects and get snow drift victims out of peril in tough winters!
