Vehicle Detail

ULTIMATE "BARNYARD FIND" !!! 1967 CORVETTE BIG BLOCK 427 CONV with ORIGINAL 5,800 MILES Yes, ORIGINAL 5,800 MILES ORIGINAL OWNER STILL LIVES LOCAL AND CAN VERIFY INFORMATION In 1967, Mr. Frank Doyle purchased his first and only Corvette, an Elkhart Blue Big Block 427/390hp Convertible, from Lustine’s Chevrolet (now out of business) in Hyattsville, Maryland. This beautiful new car was parked every night in the single car driveway of his home next to his parent’s bedroom window. After six months, the car was stolen in the middle of the night. The police were lucky and were able to locate and recover the car within a week. Upon its recovery, a careful examination determined no damage had occurred and it was returned in exactly the same condition to Mr. Doyle. The next day a phone call was made to Lustine’s Chevrolet to order an alarm system to be installed on the Corvette. A week later, the Corvette was scheduled to have the alarm installed. Upon installation, it was determined that the wrong alarm system had been delivered. The correct unit was reordered and another appointment was made for the installation. The same evening, Mr. Doyle parked the car in its usual spot in the driveway next to his parent’s bedroom window and during the night, the car was stolen for the second time in just over a month. The car was recovered a few weeks later; however, the engine and hood had been removed from the car. The insurance company was very suspicious of the second theft in such a short period of time and refused to allow Mr. Doyle to have his car back thinking he had access to the engine and was looking for a check from the insurance company to help pay for his expensive sports car. The insurance company therefore sold the vehicle to a local car dealer. The car was then sold to a local gentleman that purchased and installed an “over the counter” correct 427/390 engine along with a used hood. The car was driven for a few years very sparingly. The car then ended up sitting in a warehouse for approximately 35 years collecting dust. I purchased the car from the estate in July 2005 and after changing the fluids and running the engine for a short time, it was again parked in a garage and collecting dust until now. With the exception of the engine and hood, the car is basically as it left Lustine’s Chevrolet back in 1967. It still has its “original factory installed” Elkhart Blue paint, the original factory installed “Teal Blue” interior, rally wheels, shocks, exhaust and convertible top with tape still covering the knife slit the thief used to steal the vehicle. The factory installed gas tank with sticker is still intact and the inside of the tank is rust-free and spotless. The car is a complete, “no hit body” with original paint. (There is very minor left inner fender repair probably damaged during the hastily removal of the engine). The frame and undercarriage is in great shape with no rust (car has been stored indoors since the early 1970’s).The car starts, runs, and shifts smoothly through all four gears, and the headlights open and close perfectly. This is an ALL AROUND GREAT CAR that could be restored or driven “as-is”. For serious interested parties, I can make arrangements with original owner to verify vehicle is in basically the same condition as when it was towed away back in 1968, if desired.Feel free to contact John at 443-655-6404 with any questions or to set up time for inspection prior to end of auction.*** Please do not ask what the reserve is, I intend to let the auction process determine the price.*** Corvette is located near Baltimore, Maryland.Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction early for this reason. All information is believed true and accurate and can be verified by previous owners.
