Vehicle Detail
WOW!!! This is a beauty...Classy, fun, & sporty! The black exterior & tan interior combo is absolutely gorgeous! Good luck finding another one this clean.______________________________________________________________________________________________________This 1982 Mercedes 380SL is a classic convertible with both hard & soft tops. I inherited this car from my father, who had purchased it from the second owner. Between my father and I, we have spent over $7,000 in restoration. Both tops are in very good condition. The soft top is new within last 5 years. This beauty has been in my family for around 7 years and has always been garaged and was barely driven (probably not even 2,000 miles in this time). The finish, albeit not original, is in near perfect condition. There are small (touched up) scratches where the hard top rests on the passenger side (see photo). A hairline paint crack, which is barely noticeable, is located above the front passenger wheel well (see photo). Absolutely no dings or dents. All four wheels are in exceptional condition and tires are in great shape with plenty of tread. The only other things I can think of that are not perfect are: 1) the passenger front fog light lens has a crack, but is functional (this is an easy, inexpensive repair), 2) the muffler has a couple small holes in it (very functional and quiet, but not perfect), 3) the windshield has a leak (but I understand it only costs about $200 to remove and reinstall windshield (never did it because we never drove it in the rain). The tan leather interior is in superb condition, with only a slight tear in the rear seat backrest (see photo). The original radio and cassette player work great and a JVC 12 disc CD player with remote control has been added, and is located in the trunk. All instruments including heat & AC work perfectly. We used foreign car specialist, Auto Assets in Columbus, Ohio for recent repairs. I told them to go over the vehicle thoroughly and fix everything they felt needed to be done (roughly $2,800). I can email you a copy of the invoice if you desire to review repairs made. In fact, if you wish to call Eddy at Auto Assets at 614-793-1050 he can give you an unbiased opinion of the car (Be sure to tell Eddie that you are phoning about Brooks Brown's Mercedes). He told me it was the cleanest he had ever seen of that era...very solid car! One other thing, I had confirmed with a mercedes mechanic that the value of the car increases about $2,000 if it has been converted from the original single linkage to the double linkage. Luckily, Auto Assets confirmed that this has been done. Bottom line...this is a very clean, solid car that will turn heads for sure! Feel free to call me if you have any questions at 740-225-2546. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ $500.00 Paypal deposit required 24 hours after the close of the auction.
