No less than 7 factory performance Mustang models were available (Boss 302, Boss 429, Shelby GT350, GT500 and the Mach 1). Additionally, 9 variations of V-8s were available in the '69-'70 cars. The GT model was discontinued after 1969.(1969 GT sales had dropped to 4,973 vs 72,458 1969 Mach 1's sold.) The "GT" Mustang would not be around again until 1982 on the Fox body platform.For Ford, the Mach 1 was introduced as an in-between model, a fit between the lower priced GT and the track oriented Boss 302s and 429s. The Mach 1 started with the fastback "Sports Roof" body and added several visual and performance enhancing items such as matte black hood with hood pins, chrome gas cap and wheels, chrome exhaust tips (except 351W 2V), and dealer optional chin and rear deck spoilers, and louvers.This particular 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is a very special car. Purchased new on April 24, 1969 right here in St. Louis Missouri at Tom Casavely Ford, the car has spent its entire life with just one family. With only 94,723 original miles the car has never gone through any kind of major restoration. About 10 years ago, the car received a new paint job, the motor was pulled out and rebuilt and new carpet was installed. These are the only things that have ever been done to the car. Outside, the car has been repainted about 10 years ago in the original factory colors of Candy apple Red with a Matte Black hood. The re paint was done around 10 years ago and does show some age. There are some scratches and blemishes to the paint but overall in good condition. Both front and rear bumpers are in good, original condition with no damage or major pitting. The interior is all original with the exception of the carpet which was replaced around 10 years ago. The seats are original for the car and show only minor wear. The most major being to the drivers side seat where there is a small tear as you can see in the photos. The dash shows some minor cracking around the speaker grill which is not uncommon. The wood steering wheel is solid under the cover.Under the hood boast the powerful 351 CI V8 with 4bbl carb attached to the FMX automatic transmission. The motor was rebuilt about 10 years ago using all Ford, quality parts. The vehicle runs strong, just like a muscle car should.
