1977 CAPRICE STATION WAGON I purchased this car several months ago on an impulse buy, I've always favored the wagons since my first car was one. This car in my option had been sitting a while, it had flat spots on the tires and that old car musty smell. I was on my way home and saw it sitting on the back lot of a used car dealership, I stopped to look at it and found that it wasn't even for sale one of the sales men was driving it so I had to give him an offer any way. Unfortenatley he declined, so a week or so later I stopped back in because I had to have this car, gave him another offer and it was mine. So from what I can put together it was a trade-in in North Vernon Indiana, with the paper work I got it was documented at 50,034 miles, the salesman I got it from knew a lady at this other dealership and got it there. From the information I have gathered I'm the fourth owner first Bob and Mary Murphy which purchaed the car new from Bill Dunfee Chevrolet in Columbus Indiana , traded in at Country Chevrolet in North Vernon, Indiana, Walker Auto Sales Columbus, Indiana, And now me. I have had a few things done to the car. The valve cover gaskets replaced, all new belts, pcv valve replaced, egr replaced, spark plugs replaced, spark plug wires, distributor cap and condenser replaced,cruise control modulator replaced, lower and upper speedometer cable relaced, thermosat replaced, water pump replaced, radiator taken out dipped/flushed, upper and lower radiator hoses,nylon speedo gear in tranny replaced, two new Hanook tires on rear, two used tires on front, pin stripe redone. Whats left on my list, there is a small exhaust leak behind the muffler, front end is a little out of alingnment, but not bad (why I put used tires on front), headliner need redone, the drivers seat is torn and needs fixed. This car is by no means a show car it has dings, dents scatches, paint chips, and few spots of surface rust and belive it to have original paint.This car has a 350 4 barrel carb, 350 tranny. I believe the car to have far more than 50,000 miles by looking steering wheel break pedal and torn seat. Cruise control (works), power front bench seat, power rear window, rear tailgate(fold down) or barn door(side hinge swing out), rear facing fold down seat, fold down middle bench seat, original spare tire(mint condition), orignal clear wrap over hump floor mats front seat/middle bench. this car. I get looks and comments everwhere I go and occasioanlly get the punk kid that thinks he can out run me to. This car is a sleeper and floats down the road like a cadIllac. Only registers 80 but will bury the needle far past. I have had 9 people in this and it did great, I would feel comfortable driving this anywhere and love to get it out on the interstate to cruise. I would like to keep it but have found a 2011 bike on sale and could justify buying it by selling this. Box of vintage 55 cent kleenex, two NRA stickers and Indiana State Police bumper sticker thrown in for free. This will be the last time to list if it doesn't sell, till April or May its time to store it for the winter months. Buyer is responsible for pickup and/or transport.
