Vehicle Detail

2001 Honda Civic EX Sedan. 145835 miles, clean title, never been in a wreck. 5 speed manual transmission. 38 MPG on the highway. Honda reliability. Autocheck scores range from a 34 - 58 and this Honda Civic scored a 60. Owned for over 3 years, well maintained, regular oil changes. All features are working. More photos can be seen here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/70086386@N04/sets/72157628529681069/ Exterior: Body is in good shape. Only major blemish is a small tree limb fell on the rear passenger side quarter panel. It was during the crazy wind storms that were occurring up here in the Tennessee area a few months back. Nothing else in the car was damaged, just the rear quarter panel. Its not too noticeable, you could have a body shop go over it to make it look a little better or just drive it as is because it does not effect the car functionally. The rear door open and closes like normal, ect. The rear bumper has a slight gap in it where a girl on her cell phone drove up too far and pushed the bumper in. Its not too noticeable otherwise. A few scratches on the body, one small scratch on the rear passenger door near the handle. A tiny scratch near the drivers side wheel well. The original factory plastic rims are in fair shape, the front ones have a few scratches on them from parallel parking. There is a small ding in the front hood chrome that can be seen in the photos, again its not very noticeable. The black trim piece that covers the drivers side windows is worn down, these can be replaced easily if desired or driven as is because these are just cosmetic pieces on the car. See photos for more details. The front passenger side headlight was replaced about a year ago because it was full of water from the rain, so I had it replaced at the dealer so it looks new, but the drivers side headlight is still original so it is slightly hazy. If you wanted the drivers side headlight could be replaced to a non hazy new one but again this would be cosmetic as both headlights are fully functional. Interior:Both front seats are in good shape. Rear seat is in good shape. The power steering rack was leaking power steering fluid into the cars interior about a year ago and discolored the original interior carpet. I paid to have the entire power steering rack replaced but the original carpet still is stained. It could be covered up with some good floor mats, or if you were inclined you could replaced the entire interior carpet for less than $200 or again just drive the car as is because this is just a cosmetic issue. I'm just trying to describe any blemishes I can find so there are no surprises after the auction ends. The pull handle for the fuel door is working, but the interior release lever for the trunk is not working. This was not a problem for me as I preferred to keep the trunk locked for security. The trunk opens normally with the key with no problem. The headliner has a few places where it is beginning to sag down, I believe this is a common problem in many 2001-2005 Honda civics. Again this is just cosmetic and could be fixed by trying to use some aftermarket headliner repair products, or driven as is. All power windows and mirrors are functional. The front power windows are a little slow to roll up and down but they are fully functional. Power door locks are functional. Cruise control is fully functional. Air conditioner was entirely replaced when I bought the car about 3 years ago, so it only has maybe 30,000 miles on the entire system, so its good to go and should not give you any problems in the future. Honda CD player is functional, all 4 speakers are newer and sound great. Trunk carpet has a few stains on it from hauling around take out food. I previously had a infinity aftermarket stereo installed in the car and had the trunk lid soundproofed by a professional stereo shop, so when you open the trunk lid you can see a silver sound proofing shield installed on the inside of the trunk but this is only to silence noise and vibration so you can hear your stereo better. Spare tire and jack included. Mechanical: Engine starts every time. New battery was installed about a year ago. A/C blows cold. Heater fully working The motor appears to have a small oil leak at the cam shaft seal on the upper part of the engine. It has only been leaking oil for maybe about the last 10,000 miles and only needs to have a quart of oil added every 5000 miles or when you change the oil. This could be repaired or just driven as is if you check the oil level every 3 or 4 thousand miles. It doesn't appear to be getting any worse. The manual transmission shifts well, the stick goes into gear every time, the clutch works well. Sometimes if you are shifting the transmission quickly it will grind for a second before going into 3rd gear. This is only if you are shifting the transmission quickly and it does not grind if you shift a little slower. All other gears except the shift from second gear to third do not grind at all. This is a common issue on the 2001-2005 manual transmission Civic and does not effect its drive-ability. Also I believe the throw out bearing is making a 'pinging' noise when you let the clutch out. I have a short video I recorded of this on my Flicker page. The sound goes away when you push the clutch in completely. You can sometimes hear the noise when you are in first gear and driving up a hill until you get up to about maybe 30 mph. It has been making this noise for about the last 20,0000 miles and I just had the car checked out again and the mechanic assured me that the transmission was fully working, and it sounded like the throw out bearing was making noise. This could be repaired or you could drive the car as is. The clutch does not slip and the car is fully drive-able. The power steering rack was completely replaced along with both the inner and outer tie rod ends about a year ago, it is fully functional, the car drives straight down the road, steering feels sharp. The power steering pump is original and sometimes groans when your turning the steering wheel in a parking lot, but I think this is expected as its the original power steering pump with 150,000 miles. But the entire steering system is working well, the car drives well around town or on the highway. I think the front ball joints may be original as they sometimes make a "clunk" sound when your going over speed bumps. Its doesn't happen very often and again, you could have these replaced or drive the car as is. The rear tires are brand new, and the front tires are still in good condition, oil just recently changed, radiator was flushed, spark plugs were recently changed out with manufactures specs. Honda civic gets 38 MPG on the highway! I word as a traveling nurse and I used this car as my highway transportation. I drove this car from Georgia to Texas to California and back to Tennessee and it has been a wonderful Honda. I'm only selling the car because I'm moving back to California and will not need a car as I'm going to ride the Bart to get around. Overall this Honda is in good condition, it has a few cosmetic issues but overall it would make good transportation for someone looking for a car with good gas mileage and 4 doors. Car is available to see and for test drives in person. If you have less than 5 ebay feedback please message me before bidding. Clear title in hand. $200 refundable paypal deposit due within 24 hours of auction end. Full payment of cashiers check or cash in person within 10 days of auction end. Buyer is allowed to inspect the Honda and take a test drive prior to making the full payment. I have the title in hand, so you will leave here with the Honda, the title, and a bill of sale. NADA value is $5825 if you purchased this same Honda at a dealership. Click on "options' and then type in the mileage of 145,835 and select "w/o automatic transmission" to see its NADA value.http://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/2001/Honda/Civic-4-Cyl/Sedan-4D-EX/Standard-Equipment NO SALE TAX OR EXTRA DEALER FEES!! Thanks and good luck bidding! On Dec-24-11 at 08:47:40 PST, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that on the passengers side interior door panel there is a small chip in the plastic door near the power door lock. Again its not too noticeable and is only cosmetic. Also, I had the timing belt changed out when I first got the car and I still have the receipt from it. Please message me with any questions, thanks and good luck bidding!
