Vehicle Detail
Rare collector car available due to settling an estate...The Avanti style emerged in the late days of automaker Studebaker and continued as a separate brand "Avanti II", after the demise of Studebaker. The launch of advanced styles designed by the Raymond Loewy Corp such as the 1953 Studebaker Starlight coupe, continued Studebaker's reputation as a 'style house'... The Avanti was a design statement in a fiberglass body that gave Studebaker renewed recognition as a styling house. The Avanti II and later Avanti replicas have survived many years of building distinctive automobiles on other maker's chassis. This car is rare in that it is offered by the original owner's wife, and it is a true 'one owner' original vehicle. It has a little more work to get full refurbishing completed...An assortment of pictures are shown...the car needs an impeller for for the supercharger at present, a $200 to $400 part.. Unique styling in fiberglass, distinctly Avanti, front end low and long, back end high and short Supercharged original 289 Studebaker V-8 engine Automatic Transmission... 2 door sports coupe Original Turquoise color exterior paint Bucket seats, turquoise premium vinyl Wood trimmed interior Tinted glass AM FM? radio Round headlights with round bezels Always garage kept 1963 and 1964 are the most sought after Avanti years ...the original Avanti by Studebaker with the supercharged 289 c.i. engine. All were built before the end of 1963.. Owner wants $18,000 and offers...I have listed this for my friend...send me any and all questions and I will get them answered... Update: Many questions have arisen as to whether this is a 1963 or 1964 car... it has been confirmed to be a 1963 by virtue of several indicators of the car's features...Many thanks to the experts who know these differences! Update: I have omitted from the features list a few items until they can be confirmed as present on this car...I have not seen other than pictures of this car but will later confirm and add back to the list any of those that are present on the car. Update: Leather seats omitted from the list of features...experts say it could not be other than premium vinyl...and I appreciate the savvy of those who know these cars! The original title to this car says it is 1964 and it was purchased in 1964...but by virtue of its features and its serial number it has been determined to be a 1963 titled as a 1964...I am ordering a build sheet from the Studebaker Museum to see the original factory order.
