Vehicle Detail
You're bidding on a December of 1962 Deluxe Microbus 15 window buses are getting very hard to find these days, maybe even harder than finding a good 23 window bus. This particular bus was restored here in Northern California by Gary Lavere roughly 15 years ago in around 1995-1997. It was featured in Volks World, the UK magazine, in the Dec.'97 issue. It also came out in the June of '98 issue of VW Trends. Gary was and still is a local VW enthusiast/restorer. As you can see in the pix, the restoration has held up reasonably well.It is a walk through, which in my eyes is a HUGE plus… very hard to find a walk through and it adds a lot in the desirability factor. When restored, it had a completely new interior installed, including a new headliner and all new seat covers and door panels. The previous owner told me that she thinks the bus has less then 5k miles on it since restoration. I believe this to be true, as I jumped in it on Saturday and drove 85 miles round trip without any problems. There is a sticker on the bottom of the driver's side dog leg that states the last major service was on June 19, 2001 at mileage 26178, When I drove it Saturday the odometer read 27253. So in almost 10 years, it has only had 1075 miles put on it .The paint work is still over all pretty nice, but there are a few areas that have popped up due to poor storage . Everything seems to work fine, with the exception of the gas gauge , the bus starts right up and idles nicely , shifts fine through all gears. Really over all drives pretty nice.As per any car that has been sitting for awhile, all normal small mechanics should be performed before making it your daily driver.Bus is converted to 12V , and there is a console that was ad'd that stands by itself in the middle of walkthrough section, this holds a newer stereo system.Overall the bus has a good look Get in and drive and enjoy Happy Bidding and PLEASE email with any questions prior to bidding
