You are bidding on a 1998 Mercedes-Benz C230 sedan. This vehicle has been in our family ever since new. A newer 4matic MB was recently purchased, so it is finally time to sell this car, as hard as it is to do. The car has a little over 175,000 miles on it, mostly highway driven. It has always had Mobil 1 oil changes with original Mercedes-Benz filters, and just had a fresh oil change today. The engine runs like new - plenty of power, idles perfectly smoothly, no oil leaks. This 4-cyl M111 engine is strong and reliable. This is a normally-aspirated engine, no supercharger to worry about. The transmission shifts like new. The exhaust system and brakes are fine. The tires have plenty of treadlife, and are great all-season Goodyear Assurance Triple Treds. A New York State inspection was recently done and the vehicle passed with no problems. No check engine light. Everything works, which includes the following: All power windows, cruise control, A/C, heated seats, AM/FM/Cassette stereo with 6-CD changer in the trunk, electric sunroof, electric mirrors, electric power seats and rear electric defogger. Safety highlights include ABS brakes, four airbags, and emergency tensioning seatbelts. Being a 13 year old car, there are the normal dings and scratches, but the paint is still very shiny. The front bumper cover could use some work, especially on the driver's side where it is sagging down, due to a car clipping it in a parking lot and dislodging it. The original light alloy wheels have oxydation as shown in the photos. There are several little surface rust spots here and there. This vehicle was most recently owned by a family member who occassionally smoked in the car, so there is a slight odor when one first gets in it. Going over it with a mild solution of Mr. Clean should take care of this. While recently at local Mercedes-Benz dealer, it was noted that ball joints and control arm bushings are recommended. Sometimes the LCD (liquid crystal diode) displays of outside temp/mileage/clock fades where the numbers are illegible, but occasionally the mileage LCD becomes normal again (as shown in the photos). This is a very strong W202 chassis Mercedes-Benz which gives a secure feeling of safety and reliability when driving it. The doors still sound great when closing them. The vehicle comes with official Mercedes-Benz rubber Winter mats, front and rear, two Smart keys, and the original owners manual.
