Vehicle Detail

This car was purchased as a gift for my wife for our 5 year anniversary. 2 months later we found out she was pregnant, we are really sad to see the car go!! Porsche produced fewer than 3,000 356 Speedsters total. Originals are harder to find and their prices are soaring into six-figures. This beautiful silver 1957 Porsche Speedster was designed and assembled by famed builder Classic Motor Carriage. Classic was among the original companies to design a Speedster "tribute" car and has been known for years as a premiere manufacturer of such. While many manufacturers simply drop a 356 shaped fiberglass tub on top of an old Volkswagen chassis, the Classic reproduction is known for being produced as close to the original and famed Porsche specs as possible (actually around 11.7" shorter than a typical VW chassis). Included with this car are the original assembly and build books and sheets, which offer a detailed comparison between the Classic and the original, as well as an exacting description of the manufacturing process. The example offered is a fine testament to the original Classic Speedster build and quality. Lovingly maintained and sparingly used since built, this car has traveled less than 7,000 miles, and less than 500 miles since we have owned it. It is finished in beautiful silver trimmed with red interior and gray carpeting with black honeycomb floor mats with grey trim. Classic has claimed and documented that over 90% of the parts on a Classic Speedster are interchangeable with an original Porsche. Car and Driver and many other enthusiast magazines have marveled at how a well finished Classic Speedster is nearly indistinguishable from the original. The Classic Speedster come with a dual carb 'Super' engine tuned to about 1850cc (not documented, but as presented to me, and believable when driving). She may not be the prettiest looking motor but she is solid and dependable. The engine originated in a '73 Super Beetle. With the relative feather light curb weight (approx 1585 lbs) of this car, and additional HP, it simply flies. With the near 50/50 weight distribution (46/54 to be exact), the handling is incredible as well. The car was built on the (modified to spec) clean chassis of a 1967 Volkswagen, and is titled (clear Indiana title) as such. This keeps insurance rates incredibly reasonable! Car was freshly painted on November 1st, 2011. Interior was completely redone, new trunk carpet kit, bumpers included ($250.00 dollar value) new side mirror, rearview mirror, tail lights, all coming from Vintage Speedster. Engine has been completely gone through by Meyers Volkswagen and Porsche, who has been locally servicing Porches since 1978. Windshield is in the process of being replaced and will be complete upon purchase. The only thing not working on the car is the odometer. It stopped working a week ago, I spoke to Hollywood Speedometers and was quoted $120.00 to fix it. Also included in the car is a complete black top. Call 702-755-8180 for more information, to discuss, make an appointment to see the car in person, or make an offer on the car. I will consider any reasonable offers but please no low ballers. Car is also listed for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction anytime for outside sale. Likewise, if you are interested in a "Buy it Now" arrangement, I can add the element to the auction upon the agreement of the sale price. This offers both parties use of the eBay accountability system. I encourage all potential buyers to come and inspect the car in person prior to buying or bidding. Feel free to call me with any questions. Car is sold AS IS, WHERE IS. Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer. Zero or negative feedback bidders please contact me prior to bidding or or bid may be cancelled. International bidders need to have US funds as well as transportation arrangements in place BEFORE bidding. Please only serious bidders. Finally fee free to call me at 702-755-8180 or email me at lvtwim@yahoo.com for any further questions. GOOD LUCK!!
