VERY RARE - 1973 TOYOTA COROLLA TE-27 MANGO - ORIGINAL 2TC MOTOR WITH ONLY 35,475 ORIGINAL MILES - CUSTOM PAINT & INTERIOR WITH MANY EXTRAS- RUNS & DRIVES XLNT - BEING SOLD WITH NO RESERVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UP FOR SALE IS MY 1973 TOYOTA COROLLA TE-27 MANGO COUPE. I'VE OWNED THIS CAR FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW, AND I BOUGHT IT DIRECTLY FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER (AN ELDERLY MAN FROM ARIZONA). HE ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THE CAR IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IN 1973, THEN RELOCATED TO TEMPE, ARIZONA. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM HIM A FEW YEARS AGO, I HAD EVERY INTENTION OF BUILDING A SCCA SLALOM RACER. UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME (BUT I GUESS - LUCKY FOR YOU) I NEVER FULLY COMPLETED MY LITTLE RACER. I STARTED OUT WITH HAVING IT CUSTOM PAINTED AND A FEW MILD CUSTOM BODY PIECES DONE. I HAD THE MERCEDES BENZ 500 SEC TAIL LIGHTS FRENCHED IN, AS WELL AS HAVING THE QUARTER PILLAR SILLS REMOVED & SMOOTHED THE SURFACE. THE NEXT STEP WAS TO HAVE THE INTERIOR CUSTOM SEWN TO ACCENT THE SPORTY LOOK THE CAR NOW HAD. I HAD THE FRONT & REAR SEATS RE-DONE IN BLACK & SILVER TO MATCH THE EXTERIOR. I DIDN'T REDO THE DOOR PANELS, AS THEY WERE ORIGINALLY BLACK & STILL IN GREAT CONDITION. THE CARPET ALSO WAS NOT RE-DONE, AS LIKE THE DOOR PANELS IT WAS ORIGINALLY BLACK & STILL IN GREAT CONDITION. ALSO I ADDED AN OLD SCHOOL GT GRANT STEERING WHEEL TO COMPLETE THE SPORTY THEME. I NEVER LOWERED OR ALTERED THE SUSPENSION, AS THE CAR STILL HAS IT'S ORIGINAL SPRINGS & SHOCKS IN PLACE. THEY STILL REBOUND & RECOIL LIKE NEW. AFTER DOING THE EXTERIOR & INTERIOR, I WAS NOW READY TO START WITH PERFORMANCE MODIFICATIONS. THE 1ST THING I DID WAS TO HAVE THE ORIGINAL CLUTCH REPLACED WITH A HIGH PERFORMANCE CLUTCH & I ADDED A SHORT THROW SHIFTER TO IT. I ALSO HAD THE ORIGINAL T-50 TRANSMISSION BEEFED UP WITH A 5 SPEED. AS ALL OF THIS WORK (EXTERIOR & INTERIOR & MISC) WAS BEING DONE, I WENT AND BOUGHT A NEW 3TC ENGINE BLOCK FOR THE CAR. I THEN HAD MY UNCLE (A PROFESSIONAL IMPORT MECHANIC) START TO BUILD THE BLOCK WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE MODIFICATIONS (FORGED PISTONS, OVERSIZED VALVES, BORED & POLISHED HIGH PERFORMANCE HEAD, ETC.). HE NEVER REMOVED THE ORIGINAL 2TC MOTOR WHILE HE WAS BUILDING THE HIGH PERFORMANCE 3TC ENGINE FOR ME. THE CAR SAT (STILL RUNNING & DRIVING XLNT) IN HIS GARAGE FOR A FEW YEARS, WHILE HE WAITED ON ME TO CONTINUE PURCHASING MORE HIGH PERFORMANCE GOODIES FOR THE RACING MOTOR. I EVENTUALLY BOUGHT DUAL MIKUNI/SOLEX CARBS & INTAKE OFF A 2TG MOTOR, BUT BY NOW MY DREAM OF HAVING A CUSTOM SCCA SLALOM RACER WAS QUICKLY FADING. I HAD ALSO PURCHASED A FEW OTHER CARS THAT WERE NOW TAKING UP MY ATTENTION, SO NOW MY HIGH PERFORMANCE 3TC ENGINE FOR MY LITTLE TE27 WAS NOT BEING COMPLETED ANYMORE. NOW THAT BRINGS US UP TO TODAY - I'M NOW SELLING MY 1973 TOYOTA COROLLA TE27 WITH IT'S ORIGINAL 2TC ENGINE WITH ONLY 35K ORIGINAL MILES TO IT STILL ! THE ENGINE STILL RUNS XLNT AND SOUNDS LIKE NEW. I JUST TUNED IT UP WITH NEW SPARK PLUGS & WIRES, NEW DISTRIBUTOR CAP & ROTOR, NEW BATTERY, JUST CHANGED ALL FLUIDS, AND EVEN HAD THE ORIGINAL CARB REBUILT. ONCE AGAIN THIS CAR IS RUNNING & DRIVING XLNT, AND COULD EVEN BE DRIVEN TO EITHER COAST (EAST OR WEST) ! I ALSO HAD BRAND NEW TIRES INSTALLED ONTO THE SUPRA WHEELS, JUST IN CASE THE WINNING BIDDER WANTED TO ATTEMPT DRIVING IT TO EITHER COAST. ALSO EVERYTHING IS WORKING STILL JUST LIKE IT DID FROM THE FACTORY (HEADLIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, TAIL LIGHTS, INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS,ETC). REALLY THE ONLY FLAWS TO THIS CAR ARE: 1) THE FRONT & REAR BUMPERS ARE NOT INCLUDED, AS THEY WERE STOLEN YEARS AGO WHEN THE CAR WAS BEING PAINTED. 2) THE TACH SEEMS TO WORK OCCASSIONALLY NOW. I'M NOT SURE IF IT'S A LOOSE WIRE OR A FUSE PROBLEM. 3) THERE IS NO RADIO CURRENTLY INSTALLED IN THE CAR, BUT IT DOES HAVE REAR 6 1/2 PIONEER SPEAKERS INSTALLED. 4) THERE IS A SMALL 3" CRACK IN THE LEFT REAR 1/4 GLASS. 5) THERE IS A SMALL 1/2" DING ON THE FRONT EDGE OF THE HOOD. THAT'S IT FOR FLAWS - NOT BAD FOR A 38 YEAR OLD CAR !!!!!! LASTLY, I WANTED TO MENTION THAT THE EXTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE 3TC ENGINE I WAS BUILDING WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE SALE OF THIS CAR. THIS AUCTION IS FOR THIS (XLNT RUNNING & DRIVING) CUSTOM 1973 TOYOTA COROLLA TE27 WITH IT'S ORIGINAL 2TC ENGINE WHICH HAS ONLY 35,475 ORIGINAL MILES TO IT !!!! WITH THAT BEING SAID, THANKS AND GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!On Dec-05-11 at 17:59:47 PST, seller added the following information: 12-05-11 - I was going thru the car this weekend and there are a few things that I forgot to mention previously. The 1st thing is that the car does not have the temperature/heater assembly that's normally mounted in the dash. This was removed years ago and was never replaced. The 2nd thing is that the car needs a new headliner if your probably wanting to do car shows with it. The original is still in place, but does have some rips & tears to it. The 3rd thing is that the driver's seat does have a rip/tear on the side of the seat where the vinyl is located (see pic). It looks to be at the seam and can be repaired, but currently it's still there though. Lastly for all of you that have asked, there are no back taxes or dmv fees due on this car prior to you re-regestering it. At least that is what the Nevada DMV has informed me.
