This being said, this is simply the best one we've seen since 2007! The Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 was one of those rare sports cars that made no qualms about catering directly to enthusiasts. It was laden with cutting edge technology, built to be driven, and by now, most of them have been modified and driven hard by three or four different owners. As any diehard Japanese sports car fan will tell you, finding a 3000GT that hasn't been around the track more than its fair share of times is extremely difficult. And finding a low mileage 3000GT VR-4 that has never even SEEN a track is virtually impossible. This one owner, all original 1998 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is an exceptional, reference quality example of an increasingly rare car. With only 8,752 fair weather miles on its odometer, it is without a doubt the finest showroom fresh, factory correct 3000GT in existence. The car was originally delivered to Northtowne Mitsubishi in Kansas City, Missouri where it was sold new to the same owner who has pampered and fastidiously maintained it for the past 13 years. Averaging only 659 miles annually since the day it rolled out of the showroom, this cool Japanese muscle car has rarely seen anything other than sunshine and warm summer days. A quick check of the undercarriage and suspension shows no evidence of abuse or rust; and a quick check of the VIN number reveals that the body has never seen any repairs confirming that the spectacular Glacier White Pearl paint is 100% original. Thanks to its minimal street time and excellent maintenance, this twin turbo monster still starts conversations at gas stations and still carries a hint of that all too familiar new car smell. At the front of the car, angry looking dual projector beam head lamps sit above an aggressive front bumper cover which hangs projector beam fog lights below crystal clear marker lights and a bright red Mitsubishi emblem. Behind that front bumper, a large, flat hood leads the eye to pristine factory glass which sits below a body-matched sunroof and carries indiscreet "Twin Turbo" stickers. Below those "Twin Turbo" stickers, ridged front fenders flow to body-matched pearl mirrors; and body-matched flush door handles sit above aggressive side skirts which incorporate cooling ducts for the car's rear brakes. Behind those brakes, a rear windshield wiper is mounted at the base of a tall rear decklid spoiler which hangs a like-new LED center high mount stop lamp over factory fresh tail lights. Below those tail lights, graphite gray ornamentation tops a contoured rear bumper which is finished by quad stainless steel exhaust tips. In the early 1990's, the factory performance war finally started to heat up again, but this time instead of Chevy, Ford and Mopar battling it out, it was the Japanese automakers with their turbo-charged compacts. Sure, the Viper made its debut, and the Corvette was still around, but those cars were in a different league and the price of admission to that league was steep. The Japanese automakers recognized a niche for affordable sports cars and a performance war began. The Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 was a direct product of that war and benefitted from technology that was very advanced for its time. Under this car's hood you'll find a 3.0-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 that has been fitted with electronic fuel injection, aluminum heads, roller rockers and two small dimension intercooled turbos. Those turbos receive air via intakes located at the front of the car and spool quickly to create an instant 320 horsepower and 315 lb./ft. of torque. The engine compartment in this 3000GT is 100% original and in excellent, factory condition. No one has touched or serviced anything on this car unless they were a certified Mitsubishi technician, and a recent tune up included fresh fluids and all new belts and hoses. The Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 comes standard with a 6-speed Getrag manual transmission that feeds a rear wheel biased full-time all-wheel-drive system. The 45 front, and 55 rear power split gives the car catapult-like acceleration in any weather condition while a four wheel steering system turns the rear wheels in phase with the front wheels at high speeds. An aggressive stainless steel exhaust system helps the engine breath better during high RPM sprints and gives the car a nice, aggressive bark. At the corners, a four wheel independent suspension does an excellent job tightening apexes or loosening tension, and stops come courtesy of four piston calipers all around with 16 inch rotors up front and 15 inch rotors in the rear. Connecting all that power to the asphalt is a nice set of 18 inch chrome plated alloy wheels that wear new 245/40/18 Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 radials and factory equipped wheel locks. This car feels incredibly sure-footed and planted no matter what you're doing and these cars are surprisingly fast, and, more importantly, extremely stable. With the twin turbos, full-time AWD, and the 6-speed, it's an absolute blast to drive! The cars black leather interior presents a striking contrast to its clean white exterior panels and shows absolutely no signs of wear at all. The seven way power driver's seat keeps you as comfortable for quick blasts of speed as it will during long road trips, and the rear buckets do not appear to have ever been used for anything. In front of the driver, a dramatic jet black dash shows zero defects and all the gauges and instruments work exactly as they should. At the center of that dash, automated climate control sits above an Infinity AM/FM radio that's equipped with, a cassette deck, a CD player, a 210 watt amplifier and an 8 speaker sound system. Between the seats, the car's console holds a black shifter and controls for the power driver's seat above black carpet that's protected by matching "3000GT" floor mats. And at the sides of the seats, door panels which are typically faded and ballooned from heat and light, present as new from their leather trim to their red courtesy lights. Present and accounted for is the usual host of convenience and luxury features that seem to populate ever modern sports car: power windows, power door locks, intermittent front and rear wipers, heated remote power outside mirrors, cruise control, a tilt column, a leather wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio controls, a rear defroster and dual airbags. Open the hatch to find rear cargo area that is showroom new with fresh carpet, a like new privacy shade and an original spare that has never been removed from the trunk.
