Vehicle Detail

Hi there, Im selling my 1988 Corvette 35th Anniversary with 82k original miles. I recently bought it and love it but I just had a positive life change that requires me to put it up for sale. It will be missed! General Info: JUST WANTED TO REITERATE THAT I AM DRIVING THE CAR 80 MILES A DAY SO THE FINAL MILEAGE WILL VARY A LITTLE. THE MOMENT YOU PAY FOR THE CAR I WILL PARK IT UNTIL PICKUP.The car is in very good driver shape inside and out. Everything works inside and out. Have gotten lots of complements on how it looks and drives. It is an excellent candidate for a show quality restoration since all the basics are there and in great shape. Previous owner claimed to have bought the car from its original owner who was an older gentleman that was unable to drive it making me the third owner. Interior: Everything is functional including all courtesy lights, vents, defroster, heater, vanity mirror lights, power windows are fast, no wind noise or leaks from windows or targa top, power locks are AOK, the instrumentation works perfect and bright sans one small line in the speedometer digits, all functions on the driver side seat work fine sans the 3 little buttons that I’ve never known what they are for, carpet and floor mats are clean and in great shape. AC cools fast and coooooold. All vents, defrost and heater work perfectly fine. The dash vent makes a clicking noise when switching closed to open but does not affect any functions at all. No dash cracks, door panels are solid and extra clean, no funky smells (and I don’t smoke), all glass is intact and looks factory sans a small rock chip on the windshield that has been professionally repaired, cruise control AOK, as well as all other electronics. The cabin is nice and quiet, no rattles, no weird noises. You will hear some squeaking when going over bumps but only what is usual for C4’s. The bad: as expected, the seat covers are showing their age but look presentable, the driver seat needs replacement of the left lower cushion control and is noisy moving, the seat belts are also showing their age since they are white but are fully functional, the steering wheel is showing some wear on top left but otherwise it looks good. The targa top is transparent and is has some stress fissures that are cosmetic only- the top is absolutely structurally intact. Radio stopped working. Exterior: First or all, I the car was “professionally” detailed! No $50 wax job here- the real deal!!! It looks great!!!! The pcitures don't do it justice. It is bright and swirl free. No significant scratches and it does NOT have dents, dings or clear coat fading. The car was repainted at one point and it looks really really nice. No cheap Macco paint job. All lights work AOK and are nice and bright. All emblems in very good shape and not faded. No signs of accidents, repairs or body damage. The frame is solid and damage and repair free. The wheels are nice and bright but they take a bit of work to keep clean-white, remember? The bad: as with all the Corvette’s I’ve owned, the front and rear bumper have some paint stress lines. The panels are intact but I guess that since paint is not as flexible they crack with time. They do not stand out. Lastly, there is a crack of about 1 ½” length in the driver side lower front bumper right in front of the tire that can easily be repaired and one small paint chip about 2”x ½” near the driver side rear well that was spot painted. Other than that, the car looks great, shines really nice and no body damage. And yes, I know the rear wheels are on backwards. The genius that mounted the tires did not know what direction they should go. All in all this is a really sharp looking car. It does not show its age one bit. Mechanically: The car runs great! I have not had any issues with it. It starts fine, does not overheat, idles fine, runs smooth, does not smoke, transmission shifts perfectly fine, everything looks factory top to bottom, no mods, no signs of abuse, and it gives me 24 mpg freeway. It has a new water pump and transmission pan gasket. No leaks! The car breaks fine, drives straight and the suspension feels solid. I believe it’s sporting its original shocks- so those are candidates for replacement. Nothing bad to say about its mechanical condition- I would not hesitate driving it to San Francisco right now. Observations- the suspension squeaks a bit only when going over speed bumps- Im guessing due to old shocks, the mufflers are not factory but are quiet and in great shape. Tires are good quality 275/40/17 and have 85 % tread left. Oil pressure if about 62-64 when warm at highway speeds and about 41-43 at idle when hot- translation…. solid engine. Driving Impressions: This C4 is quick and handles great. It is comfortable and feels and acts reliable. I’ve been driving it to work 5 days a week 80 miles round trip with zero issues. Clean carfax and title and CA smog certificate at hand. I have not raced it or abused it any way- if u want assurance of this….just look at the beautiful red C4 next to it- it’s got a forged internal 383 nitrous injected and 8 point rollcage with C5 brakes etc etc that I own and use for my speed fix on the weekends and on the track- the 35th has been my daily driver and treated with extra care for that same reason. Suggestions: If you are looking for a sweet daily driver- leave as is. If you are looking for a resto-mod: change the mufflers to Flowmasters for that classic growly sound and add a shift kit for a race like shift….and I’ll stop here or I’ll never stop (it’s a car guy thing). If you want a show restoration- new seat covers, get the belts rewebed, repaint the bumpers, recover the center console white, and you are good to go! The car is missing it’s original center console and its RPO codes. I guess the previous owner could not keep it clean and replaced it with out bothering to transfer the codes. This is not a problem since you can order a replacement sticker for $60 and have the armrest cover refinished in white. I do have a reproduction window sticker and build order from the Corvette Museum that confirms its legitimacy as a 35th anniversary vehicle. Its serial number seats proud on the center console. Feel free to ask question via ebay or call me at 619-990-8990. I am not in a hurry to sale as I do like the car a lot. Sale is final and as is since I am not a dealer.
