1995 Ford Explorer in overall average condition, exterior and interior are in decent shape for its age. I bought this car from my uncle about two years ago. He took good care of it, dealer maintained, replaced the transmission through Ford about five years ago along with other preventative maintenance. The truck spent most of its life in rural Massachusetts so most of the miles are highway. When I bought the truck from him I replaced the Throttle Positioning Sensor, Battery, Brake calipers, Rotors, Brake pads and Fuel filter. Air Conditioning system was looked over and recharged over the summer- blows COLD. Heat blows HOT. The car has been my daily driver for two years without a problem until recently. The car shifts perfectly fine into drive, but it shifts very late/high in RPM. It does not slip, just shifts extremely late. A few mechanics took a look at it and they seem to think its a sensor on its way out or a bad Torque Converter. I have yet to see an Engine light or Transmission light come on though. It might be something as small as a sensor or in fact a bad Torque Converter. I am no mechanic though and this is strictly the opinion of the few mechanics who have seen it. I have decided not to look further into this and move on to another vehicle. If anyone wants to come and see it in person, drop me a message and I will work something out.
