This MPV belongs to my retired neighbors and they've asked me to sell it for them. They are the 2nd owners and bought it from friends back in 1978. They traveled about the country for about 8 years and retired the van to an insulated building where it has resided for the past 25 years. It has never been in the snow or salt. Currently it has 71,865 documented miles. The van has about 85% original paint on it with the front panel and bumpers being recently painted. The Michelin radials have about 70% tread left. The brakes (front disc) were rebuilt front to back and work excellent. The fuel tank was drained, new filter and fresh gas added and the carb rebuilt. The battery is near new. It drives nice and everything works except the gas gauge. All the factory issue items that came with this vehicle are included. They are: The VW tool kit plus an extra tool box full of metric tools and parts. 2 hammocks, a campfire stool, 20 ft of HD 120v accessory power cord, the 6.5' x 9.5' side tent w/poles, the inside spare tire cover and the owner's/repair manuals. All these items came with the van and you seldom see them anymore. There is also a box full of extra parts not pictured. Included are new clutch & throttle cables, misc engine gaskets, extra hubcaps, maintenance records and more. Everything VW related goes. The bucket seats and floor mats are perfect and the rest of the interior is very nice. It has an icebox and water tank/sink. The roof pops up, the side windows crank out and there is a screen for the rear door. The original windshield has a couple 'stars' in it. There is a very fair reserve on the Vanagon as the owners would really like to sell it. They have a clear title in hand and it is being sold "as is". $500.00 down (non-refundable) thru Paypal within 24 hours of auction's end. Balance in cash or Certified Bank Check within 14 days. THE OWNER HAS EXPRESSED CONCERN ABOUT THE WINNING BIDDER DRIVING THE VAN HOME. THE TIRES ARE 33 YEARS OLD AND WHILE THEY LOOK GOOD AND DON'T SEEM TO HAVE ANY FLAT SPOTS, THE VAN WAS STORED ALL THIS TIME WITH WEIGHT ON THE TIRES. THEY MAY BE FINE BUT YOU NEVER KNOW.
