Vehicle Detail

Please note reduced "buy it now" price. Auto located in the San Francisco Bay area. I've been having some problems with eBay motor vehicle bidders so if you are a new or unrated bidder, please contract me prior to bidding otherwise your bid may be subject to rejection. Thanking you in advance for your consideration. Subject vehicle is a rare and hard to come by 1976 Ford Gran Torino Elite, a Gran Torino upgrade. It has also been called the Ford Elite. Low start, no reserve, everything original with matching numbers! For a 35 year old car, it is in superb condition. Reportedly this was a one owner car prior to my acquisition. I have no way of verifying this statement however, regardless, the condition and low mileage (currently 53, 750) speaks for itself. The cars paint, interior and drive train are all original. This is what they call a California “rust free” car. There are no rust problems, only the slight oxidation that comes with the territory on unpainted parts. There are some wee paint dings here and there as one would expect with a 35 year old car, but no chunks, rips, creases or dents. Car was in storage for several years, (last licensed May 20, 2003 until now). I replaced the rear wheel bearings both sides along with the rear brake shoes that were oil soaked. The car was then serviced (lube, oil, filters, fluid checked) Former battery was replaced. The car had a radiator leak, (perhaps by not getting drained during storage) so the radiator was removed and a new radiator installed. The cooling system was flushed and then proper coolant (not water) added. . All past Motor Vehicle fees have been paid, car was smogged and I have a valid California Title in hand. The Ford Torino “Elite” was only manufactured from 1974 through 1976. It was based on the Ford Torino, a two door coupe intended to be a mid-sized car in the Thunderbird tradition, but a more affordable personal luxury car than the Thunderbird. It was essentially the 1976 Mercury Cougar XR-7 and the 1976 Thunderbird with a mild front end restyle and different portholes. After 1976 the name “Elite” was dropped as the Ford was being restructured and downsized Equipment: 351 C.I.D (5.8 L) V8 engine. 3 speed automatic transmission Power brakes ( front Disc, rear drum) Power steering Landau (partial) vinyl roof Protective padded body side moldings Gauge package with tachometer, oil pressure, coolant temperature, ammeter gauge and clock radio Front bucket seats with split arm rests Original spoke hub caps All original with no modifactions with the exception of a theft deturant package. 9” rearend (universal performance and racing rear end.) New Xtreme Power 84 month battery HERE'S WHY YOU SHOULD OWN THIS CAR! Super clean car. The interior is immaculate. The seat covers, with the exception of a couple of tears on the drivers bucket, appear to be as new. The driver seat cover I assume could be mended or replaced. Another option would be to just install lambs-wool type seat covers in-lieu of repair. Everything is original to include both interior and exterior. The only thing added to my knowledge was a anti-theft device and my replacement items Interior: Non-smoker car, ash trays have never been used. Door lights turn on Dome light turns on Key buzzer works Like new dash and gauges Like new dash cap Windshield wipers work Sanyo radio-cassette works Floor rugs almost like new Side panels like new Upholstery like new Headliner like new Working adjustable side mirror No broken glass or windows. Window handles work Good weatherstripping all around. No sign of drips or leaks Obviously garaged throughout life. Hoses and engine paraphernalia look good. Minor trim pealing Exterior Landau top in excellent condition Matching side bumpers in excellent condition Outside weatherstripping looks good with no signs of leaks. Original paint is respectable with minor chips. New paint is not needed but optional at this point . (Perhaps buffing might help refurbish some of the 35 year ago shine). Trim is in good shape. Need cleaning for the most part but has some slight pitting Chrome bumpers in great shape No dents, dings nor evidence of accidents. No rust car (all cars have some oxidation on unprotected parts) No rust trunk, rug could use a bath or replacement. Spare tire Tail, brake, back-up and directional lights all work. Headlights work both sides, high and low beams. Front directional signals work. Back tires appear relatively new. Front tires have less tread. Comments: Vehicle passed smog test 10-25-2011. California buyers should plan on registering subject vehicle within 90 days to avoid duplication and additional smog costs. Vehicle licensed to May 2012. Thoughts and Suggestions. A/C condenser kicks in however the system was not checked. Factory A/C appears to be the old Freon type. Now might be the time to go to purchase a rather inexpensive conversion kit, have the system checked and convert the A/C from Freon to R134a. Car pulls to the right so you might want to check wheel balance and or alignment etc. Clock and temperature gauge appear to be stuck or not working. Hopefully I've answered many of your questions however should you like to address any specific concerns, please do not hesitate to email me your question. You are invited to inspect and drive this vehicle and I will make myself available upon request.. Should you choose this option, please bring with you a valid drivers license and proof of insurance. Buyer to pay all shipping expenses if applicable. Should you require transportation, I will be more than happy to meet with your shipper at his convenience. This car is being sold in “As Is” condition. There are no warranties expressed or implied. You are invited to inspect the vehicle and or contact me through the eBay ask seller a question link. Exchange of phone numbers to be arranged privately. Thanking you in advance for your consideration and good hunting!
