Vehicle Detail
For sale is a one of a kind 1993 Mazda RX-7. This is a reliable street car that will run easy 10 second quarter mile times and faster. It gets 30MPG on the highway and is very quiet considering the last dyno session netted 621HP. This RX-7 originally had a blown rotard motor (shocker) and was the perfect candidate for a wild engine swap project. The body and chassis is good, straight and rust free. Not wanting an LS1 engine swap like every other person on the internet I chose to professionally install the most insane drivetrain you could put in one of these featherweight cars while expecting massive horsepower, reliability and excellent gas mileage. The drivetrain of choice is from the legendary Buick Grand National; a factory turbocharged and intercooler powerplant that was and still is ahead of its time. The factory turbocharged V6 had no problems reliably making 400HP with stock components. This particular engine has been built for more horsepower and reliability putting down 621HP on the dyno. Further tuning on the dyno could net 700HP+ out of this car. The finished product weighs in at exactly 2800lbs and is a perfect balance between the ultimate road car loaded with amenities combined with unbelievable drag racing performance. The specs are below: Mileage: 118,xxx Color: Black Interior: Tan Leather Engine: Buick Grand National 4.1L (259c.i.) Turbonetics ball bearing T-70mm turbo P Trim Speed Pro Hyper Pistons .040" over, stock rods and ARP fastener hardware everywhere. Pistons are thermal coated on top and skirts are dry film lube coated. Champion Racing Iron Heads. These are ported to the max, bigger valves and port matched to the ported intake. 210/205 Roller Cam from Precision Turbo Engine Custom Intercooler rated to 850HP All Intercooler Piping is Polished Aluminum, Mandrel Bent TIG welded with bead rolls on each end. 75lb Injectors 62MM Throttle Body Billet Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator FullThrottleSpeed.com MAF Translator with Camaro LS1 MAF Sensor Engine girdle for bottom end strength 8.5lb Mini-Starter 220A PowerBastards.com High Output Alternator Aluminum Radiator with Taurus Cooling Fan Remote oiling system with ported and matched oil pump Too many goodies to list them all in this auciton! Transmission: 200R4 Grand National Auto Transmission All the good parts like roller center support, good clutches, shift kit and mechanical trans brake. Art Carr 9" 3200RPM Stall Converter with lockup Rear End: Dodge Viper rear end, 3.08 ratio with brand new ring and pinion professionally installed. This rear end is a beefy Dana44 that will likely handle any amount of power you can throw at it and survive in a car this light. RX-7 TurboII half shafts custom mated to Viper rear end, indestructible. 3" Steel driveshaft with big Spicer 1350 U-joints. Stock wheels (14lbs) with MT Drag Radials out back. Total Drivetrain costs from above: $22,000 (conservative figure not counting nick nack components) Miscellaneous Goodies: All gauges work as designed (see recent info about speedo and tach below)Walboro 255lph in tank fuel pump (silent and reliable) R134a A/C system with new style condensor. Blows cold! Heat works fantastic Fast Ratio 2nd Gen RX-7 Power Steering Rack Drilled and Slotted Performance Brake Rotors front and back New (11/2010) Optima Yellow Top Battery with cut-off switch Electric Exhaust Cut-out to bypass muffler with the flip of a switch 3" Stainless Steel Exhaust from the Turbo to the Tailpipe, Stainless Steel Dynamax Muffler VDO 0-30pis Boost Gauge with A-pillar mount AEM wideband Gauge mounted in A-pillar Things that need fixing: Bose stereo recently stopped working. I recently paid $500 for all new amps (there is an amp attached to each speaker). Since I know the amps are new, the fix this time is a new head unit. These can be found on eBay as people pull the stock head units in favor of aftermarket stereos. The factory Bose stereo in this car sounds incredible. *Update, the factory stereo is working fine now, I'd still recommend a new head unit* The speedometer and tachometer recently stopped working. There are Dokota Digital boxes that send the correct signal to the speedo and tach, I believe the converter boxes have lost power or ground, haven't had time to figure that one out but should be an easy one with a volt meter. There is a new scrape by the gas cap where some jackass backed out of their parking space and swiped the Mazda. It's nothing major but is an eye sore to me. Rear Mazda wheel bearings need to be replaced. There is a noticable wheel bearing noise while coasting. The wheel bearings are about $70 from Rock Auto. The Terms: Goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The car is sold as-is, no warranty expressed or implied. This is a highly customized, insanely fast street car that needs special consideration when driving, especially in the rain. This car will do 0-60MPH in about 3 seconds so I hope the new owner will be a responsible individual and take this car to the drag strip to be safe. Do not purchase this car unless you can afford to keep drag radials on the back at all times, putting regular street radials on the rear no matter what size is dangerous and pointless. If you are interested in the car COME LOOK AT IT, I am located in Orlando Florida. A $500 refundable deposit will be required before a test drive takes place. This is required simply from past selling experiences and to weed out joy riders that have no intention of buying the vehicle. If you are a serious buyer this shouldn't be a problem. Pick it up or have it shipped: If you wanted to fly into the Orlando International Airport I could pick up the buyer and bring him to the car, which is about 20 minutes away. I could also recommend a shipping transport company that I've used in the past when I bought another car, their rates and service were great. Shipping charges aren't that expensive and just a little extra for enclosed transport.
