Car is being relisted due to a non paying buyer. If you do not plan to pay do not bid! SquareTrade © AP6.0 Up for auction is my ’67 Mustang coupe project car. I don’t have the time or funds to finish this project, so my loss is your gain. Summary: ’67 Mustang Coupe Rebuilt late model 302 engine, 0.030” over Edelbrock Performer intake & carb New starter, water pump, and HEI distributor Hooker Super Comp ceramic hedders 5 Spd transmission, Tremec T5 Posi rear, 4.30 gears Rear disc brake conversion The Story: This car started life as a relatively plain 6 cylinder coupe, with a C4 automatic, power steering, and manual drum brakes with 4 lug wheels. When I bought this car, it was just a shell and rolling chassis (no engine or trans). The prior owner told me it had undergone a restoration about 15+ years ago. The previous owner indicated at that time of the restoration new quarters were hung and junk yard doors were swapped in. The guy forgot to retain the original VIN tag on the driver’s door, so it has a V8 VIN on the door that doesn’t match the title, but the decal in the engine compartment matches and confirms this was not a V8 from the factory. The frame rails and floor pans look good, but do have some surface rust. The torque boxes look original, but appear in good condition. The I-6 and C4 are long gone, but it did have a number of 6 cylinder accessories in the trunk when I got it. The prior owner planned to do a V8 swap, but never finished the job. When I purchased the car, it came with a New Jersey title signed by the seller, and with the buyer info left blank. I have not written in my name and never registered this vehicle myself. The body looks good from a distance, but does have a few scratches, dings, dents, and bubbles/minor rust, and could benefit from another resto. The doors, quarters, and rockers are all showing signs of an aged resto, but my goal was to get the mechanical side ironed out before focusing on the body. In its current state I would classify the exterior as a good driver. I picked up where the last owner left off and swapped in a used, recently rebuilt 80's model 302 V8. Before installing it, I pulled the heads and checked the cylinders and confirmed it was bored 0.030” over and still had hone marks from the rebuild. I swapped in a mild street cam and lifters from Summit Racing, cleaned up the block and painted it red. I also added a host of bolt-ons, including an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and carb, Hooker Super Comp ceramic hedders, an HEI distributor and ignition wires, new water pump, new starter, chrome dress-up kit, steel flywheel, and performance clutch. The late model 302 swap also required a lot of little things like an oil pan, motor mounts, and modified accessory brackets. I also installed a used manual 5 speed transmission from an ’89 Mustang (Tremec T5), and the required conversion crossmember and trans mount. I also changed the pedals to a manual setup with a 67 Mustang clutch and brake pedal, but haven’t installed the clutch cable yet (quadrant needs to be welded to the pedal). Out back I installed a 9” rear-end housing from a ’68 Cougar, and a rebuilt trac-loc center section with 4.30 gears and 28 spline 5 lug axles as well as a Crown Vic rear disc conversion. I also installed a new brake cylinder and power brake booster, but have not done the disc conversion pon the front brakes (hence the different front/rear wheels, but I have matching rims and tires for the front for once the conversion kit is installed). It still needs quite a bit of work to truly be street worthy (the included driveshaft needs to be shortened to match up to the T5 trans. I got a $250 quote from my local trans shop. The radiator was leaking so it will need a new radiator. Some wiring needs to be done to get the gauges working and some underhood wiring also and I will include a universal wiring harness. I have purchased a brand new gas tank kit because having a new rebuilt engine I didn't want to use the old gas tank, but I have not installed it yet.) but the engine starts, it has lots of new or refurbished quality parts, and has TONS of great potential as either a project waiting to be finished or it could be parted out for a tidy profit too. Either way, it’s a steal as I have over 10K invested in it so far. The Extras: 18 Circuit universal wiring harness New Mustang Dash Trim Universal radiator hoses 3 Qts posi rearend fluid Matching front wheels and tires Thanks for looking and happy bidding!!
