Vehicle Detail
The owner purchased this Abarth in 1973. He is the second owner and has pampered it all its life. It was the first Abarth Scorpione SS 1300 personally brought into the US by Fiat dealer John Rich of Rich Motors in Glendale CA. This car was road tested and featured in Sports Car Graphic in Jan. 1970 and then also in a Motor Trend Retrospect. This is a rust free CA car. It comes with the original motor that came in the car and also a larger long block that was being constructed for a restoration of the car. The car had started to be taken apart for body & paint work which has not been completed. The only damage on the body is a small dent on the left front fender and a small scrape on the hood. No structural rust just a little surface rust from sitting in storage. The car has been off the road for over 20 years and has been stored in a garage. This is a true Abarth 1300 SS and has all the Abarth suspension & go fast Abarth parts included. The interior is all original and in good shape with a pair of custom leather seats that were made when the 2nd restoration was started. The first redo was done in 1976 with a coat of red paint over black lower panels borrowing from the Ferrari Boxers striking paint jobs of the era. The car comes as seen in the pictures with suspension and engine parts in boxes. This is truly a rare Fiat 850 based car which according to some articles I have read may be 1 of 5 constructed by Carlo Abarth in what was his attempt to start a production line of this car. The cars lines are true Italian automotive art. This is a very sexy small Italian Sports Car that is rarely seen anywhere in the world today & would surely outrun and outclass any small bore class racers. On Nov-06-11 at 09:28:18 PST, seller added the following information: The car comes with 4 original Mag wheels and 1 steel spare wheel. These are the originals to the car. Also can give the winning bidder info on where a set of original Abarth Scorpione seats that may be available if the restorer wants to get it back to complete original condition. The underside is solid but was unable to get a good picture of it. Remember this is a California car! It was brought to the US in 1969 and has lived in California to this day.
