Vehicle Detail
1978 Datsun 280Z parts car for sale! Heres the story: I bought this car from another guy as a project car. I got it home only to find out that the under carriage (frame and floor boards) are badly rusted. I would say rusted beyond repair. There is not only frame rust on the rails that are under the cabin that are replacable, but also around the suspension and engine mounts at the front of the car. I decided this was far too much work for me as I have a wedding to pay for soon. I would also like to note that the odometer is in the 60k range. I just want to mention that I assume it is actually a 60k car (by the condition of the interior) but it could be 160k. I doubt it, but I just need to make mention of it. This car would be perfect for someone that has a Datsun 240z, 260z, or 280z that has a good unibody and want to update the rest. Here is the good parts of this car: This car has over $4500 in receipts from the last 6 years! The car has had $2700 of body work done about 5 years ago. This includes almost $600 for a full body kit that is in great condition and could be removed and installed on another Z. This car has a almost new set of Konig Rewind style rims and new Goodyear Eagle tires. They are 14inch rims and I would say atleast 90%+ tread left, although the sidewalls are showing some weathering from sitting outside. It also has a good hood, spoiler, good glass all around, and as far as I know a good engine (I have only owned this car for a month) and the tranny does not grind at all. The pads and rotors were replaced less than 1k miles ago along with the belts, oil, tie rods, spark plugs, and wheel install and balance. The interior is in good condition for its age. It has a excellent condition dash with no cracks! The gauges look great and the only one that I know of that doesn't work is oil pressure. The carpet in the car was recently replaced by the last owner. All of the weatherstripping was also replaced. Once again, I think this would be a great deal for anyone looking to restore their Z. Once again, this should be purchased as a parts car only (but DOES HAVE A CLEAN TITLE in hand). I would not recommend driving this car as the sway bar is not even connected to the car any more as well as the engine mounts being near some very rusted frame members. Please email me with any additional questions. I WILL ASSIST IN THE DELIVERY OF THIS CAR. DISTANCE IS DEPENDENT ON THE PRICE IT GOES FOR. PLEASE GET A HOLD OF ME IF YOU ARE QUESTIONING THE SHIPPING OF THE CAR.On Oct-31-11 at 06:15:59 PDT, seller added the following information: I would like to answer a few questions and clear up a few confusions: 1) I am only helping in transporting the vehicle if this is clearly worked out with the winner of the auction. I was only offering this so that if someone close by was wanting to bid but had no way of getting it home, I could help. I am willing to help within a short distance. I am not going to deliver this car across country. 2) Any other issues I can think of: passenger door wont always latch. something with the internal latch mechanism doesnt want to close (door does close and line up, so its not a alignment issue). seats are not perfect, some small tears in them. Clutch cylinder leaks and as the car sits is not drivable (I can fill it back up to get it to drive onto a trailer if it is requested.) 3) Again, because obviously some people didn't understand it from the initial description: This car is a PARTS CAR. I am selling it for a loss because I am unwilling to do anything with it due to the extensive frame rust. It would be perfect to make 1 good Z out of 2 parts cars. Please email me with any questions. I will try to respond in a timely manner.
