Vehicle Detail

1967 Camaro SS Clone It Has the Engine and Transmission from a 1996 Corvette, which is an LT-1 engine and 6 speed manual transmission. It has a racing clutch, which is pretty stiff and only has about 3 inches of travel. It is hydraulicly operated. No GM Opti-Spark distributor !!! There is a normal, regular one. It has been converted to a carburetor, which is a brand new Polished Edelbrock from Summit. Also installed on the LT-1 is a March Pulley System. It uses a single Serpentine Belt. There is a remote reservoir for the power steering and for the hydraulic clutch. There is a chrome Air Conditioning Compressor installed, but no other A/C components come with the car. It has a modern radiator with dual electric fans, and they come on automatically since they are thermally controlled. The car does not overheat, even on hot days. The power front disc brakes and rear drums are controlled by a chrome brake booster and chrome master cylinder. The car has new control arm bushings, idler arm, front end alignment, new disc brakes on the front and shoes on the rear. The 10 Bolt posi rear differential is geared perfectly for the 6 speed transmission. You can cruise nicely around town in 4th gear, and 5th and 6th gear drop the RPM's to just above a fast idle. It will absolutely fly in the last two gears. Another great feature is the windshield wiper conversion. No more single speed or 2 speed wipers...it has intermittent, slow, medium, and fast speeds. All of the lights, bezels, lenses, grille, front and rear bumpers, and mirrors are new. All of the turn signals, headlight high and low beam, and brake lights work correctly, as does the 4 way flashers. The dash lights and dome light works. Pretty much everything on the outside of the car is excellent. No need to buy a bunch of accessories since all of it is new. As you can see in the photos, the car is more than presentable. It is also more than driveable just as it sits. As with any car, it could use a little tweaking and tuning, but all in all, it's a great car like it is. If it were me, I'd paint it and finish it up to be the high speed cruiser that it is. No need to avoid the highway now---you can fly with the new cars! The body is very, very solid, with virtually no rust anywhere. No big bubbles, holes, or piles of bondo. Every panel on the car is great and the few flaws can be fixed when it gets painted. The driver's door needs new hinge pin bushings. They are worn out and let it sag just a bit. If you lift up on the door, the body lines are all straight. In the photos of the passenger door, you can see a ding right in the center. On the right rear quarter panel, it had a crease that the previous owner tapped out from the inside. It will need to be smoothed. The good part is that the dents prove it's all metal, and would be a quick fix since you're not fighting layers and layers of filler. On the lower right front fender, between the wheel well and the bumper, you can see a spot where there is some filler, but it's a small area and not a big deal. It has a steel cowl hood, and front and rear spoilers. The areas around the front and rear glass are great, as is the metal portion on top of the dashboard. All of the glass is pretty nice, but the windshield has the normal pits from old age. All of the windows roll up and down, and the doors and trunk lock. The interior would be considered near excellent. The front and rear seats are excellent, and the dash is beautiful. It has a chrome tilt steering column. The original cluster was removed and replaced with a carbon fiber one that houses a new set of gauges. All of the gauges work, with the exception of the fuel gauge. The needle reads empty even when the tank is full. Also, the speedometer works, but reads too fast. I'll do a little more research to see why, and see if there is a quick way to calibrate it. The Corvette 6 speed uses an electronic speed signal, but the gauge cluster uses a regular speedometer cable. There is a converter box on the drivers inner fender, so there has to be a way to get the reading closer. The carpet is in really good shape, but is faded in a few spots. It doesn't need to be replaced, but could benefit from a quick spray of fabric dye. A console would really make the interior better looking. It has aftermarket front and rear seats belts installed. The headliner is great, but the sail panels are wrinkly. I removed them, and will try to have them replaced before the end of the auction. There is a modern stereo installed that fits in place of the original. In the back window / package tray area, there is a set of speakers and a 3rd brake light. That part is sold by Ecklers and is over $200 plus shipping. The car wasn't butchered just for the sake of hearing music. There is a small exhaust leak between the headers and the block, and I didn't fix it because the headers are ugly ones and I wanted to buy a nice coated pair. If you decide the ones on there are OK, you'll need to replace the gaskets. With the orange engine block, aluminum intake, chrome goodies, and the billet aluminum valve covers and breather...the headers are the weak link cosmetically. I forgot to take pictures of the trunk, but I'll update the listing as soon as I do. The floors are solid, the door bottoms are great, and the part you see is about as good as the parts you don't see, so it wouldn't take much to finish this car. I have 5 cars that I want to sell between now and Thanksgiving. This car, a 1968 Camaro Convertible SS clone, 350-4 speed, a 1971 Chevelle SS, 350-4 speed with a huge amount of options, a 1970 El Camino 454 SS clone, and a 1969 Chevelle SS clone with a 396-4 speed. I plan on listing one or two a week until the end of the month, and whatever doesn't sell is going to Daytona for the Turkey Rod Run. I know the remainder of them will sell there. The cars are located in Port Charlotte, Florida, about 90 miles south of Tampa. I'm roughly 5 miles from I-75, so picking up in person or shipping is easy. Clean, clear titles are in hand, and once payment has cleared, the cars and paperwork can be handed over. You can call or text me at 941-740-2277, or email me through ebay or directly to me at northshorebill@aol.com. Please, no dreamers, lowballers, or time-wasters. This car and the others are being listed to be sold, not for the privelege of looking at them and thinking about it. Please have your funds ready, and if you need to inspect the car ---which I encourage--- it needs to be done before the auction ends. I'm retired and have an open schedule, so coordinating a time to inspect should be easy. Thanks for looking, and good luck on your car search. On Oct-25-11 at 14:01:13 PDT, seller added the following information: OK, I added the picture of the trunk, and also I wanted to add that went I wrote the listing, I didn't have the title right in front of me. From the VIN, it was a factory V-8 car. If anyone needs any additional information that I can help with, just let me know. It's a great start for someone to take off and finish. It's alright looking like it is, but I think a new paint job would make this a different car. Snce there aren't a lot of rust and bondo issues, it's a body worth painting. It starts quickly, even after it's been sitting awhile, and the 6 speed is a nice touch. I think I want to do this to all my cars after driving this one. When the auction is down to 24 hours, I'll lower the reserve one last time. I lowered it today, so the next reduction will be it's last. If you want to buy the car before the auction ends, send me an offer and we'll go from there. I can add a Buy it Now anytime.
