I bought this Forester in 2005, and it has been a great, reliable car. I just took it to a mechanic to get it checked out- They replaced a rubber boot on the front axle that was cracked and leaking grease They also replaced the passenger-side tail light enclosure which was cracked. The one mechanical thing they said was pending is that within the next 10,000 miles the brake pads and rotors will need to be replaced, which may run around $400. The engine is in good shape and the car runs great, but it definitely has some cosmetic issues. (i tried to highlight them in the pictures) ---There is a rust spot on the passenger-side rear door that should be treated. There are two ares of significant scratches -----on the passenger-side rear corner of the car above the tail light, and on the driver-side rear bumper corner. The inside of the car also shows signs of wear- I just had the seats steam-cleaned and sanitized though, so the upholstery has a few stains but is clean. There is a tear in the carpet below the driver's feet, but it is covered by the mat. Also, the rear-windsheild wiper hasn't been working. Despite the cosmetic issues, it's a solid car with a lot of life left in it. It is outstanding in weather- especially snow. Comes with snow/ all weather tires on it that are in good shape. Has a giant sun roof that opens all the way up, is nice in the summer. Does Not come with Thule rack that is pictured. Full size spare, jack and jumper cables included.
