Vehicle Detail

Here we have a 1967 Ford Fairlane 500XL 2 door hardtop featuring the 289 V-8 and automatic transmission. The door tag reads, Warranty 7K40C159346, BODY: 63C-FAIRLANE 500XL FASTBACK ,COLOR: W-MEDIUM AQUA METALLIC ,TRIM: 8K-Lt.Aqua crinkle Vinyl/med.Aqua rosette vinyl Date: 30L-11/30/67, DSO: 74-special ordered to Seattle Washington,Axle: O-3.10 to 1 positraction,Transmission: W-C4 cruisomatic automatic transmission. As you can see from the pictures, this car is super straight, solid, complete and is a very desirable model/trim package combination still in it's original condition. An excellent candidate for restoration! This car run's, stops and handles very nicely. The 289 V-8 has been upgraded with an Edelbrock performer 289 intake manifold and a Carter AFB 625 CFM 4 barrel carburetor. It also idles with a slight lope, that coupled with it's power output suggests that the camshaft has also been upgraded. This car consistently gets rubber in second gear at full chat (even with it's traction lock rear end). Very powerful motor. The casting numbers on the block are C5AE6015E. Ford used the same casting number in 1965/1966/1967 for the 289, so it could be the original motor but we are not sure. At the very least it is the correct motor for the car (289 V-8), wearing the correct casting numbers. NO ticking, knocking or smoke, it just runs good. It is also equipped with dual exhausts - complete with chrome tips exiting beneath the bumper. This thing sounds tough!. The transmission works perfectly, nice consistent strong shifts. No issues. It is also equipped with Fords 8" 3.10 to 1 traction lock rear differential, again no issues, works perfect. This car is not a leaker, very dry underneath. The body is very straight and rust free. It has been repainted once a long time ago. It needs to be repainted. The torque boxes, rear rails and underbody look great. Both doors shut easily and line up nice when closed. The body/chassis are tight,no rattles/squeaks while under way. There is a small sheetmetal/fiberglass patch at the rear of the left rear floorboard, still looks and feels solid. Unless your going for a full bore show/resto job I would leave it alone. Even the insides of the rear quarters in the trunk show only surface rust. It has ALL of the trim and it is all in very good to excellent shape. The stainless and chrome (bumpers/window mouldings) are all there and in good shape. The front bumper looks as though someone may have grabbed it with a "J" hook and bent it up very slightly (see pics), easy fix with a mallet and dolly. The glass is good save for one chip located directly under the rear view mirror mount, lucky really in that when the mirror is installed it will not be noticed. All the windows roll up and down as intended. The interior is original and it needs to be restored. It is again very complete other than the radio which is missing. On that note we noticed two 'chicken beak' knobs under the dash, they look original to the car , we believe this may have also come equipped with the reverb radio option. As you can see from the pictures it is the super desirable buckets and console configuration. Very cool and comfy!.We do not know if the mileage on the odometer is correct, I would assume not. Either drive it as it is , paint it or being the model/trim level it is, this is a great one to fully restore as an investment. This 44 year old car being sold for restoration in as is condition. There is no warranty expressed or implied. On Oct-20-11 at 23:31:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Headlamps/brake lamps, blinkers, hazard lamps, wipers, horn, heater motor and courtesy lights all work, even the lamps in the doors and on the shift indicator in the console and the lamps in the back of the console. The front tires are Michelins with about 90% tread left (wearing nice and square) but showing some checking on the sidewalls. Rears are Kelly's with about 85-90% and no rot. They should get you home no problem!. Thanks for all the nice emails and good questions!.:
