Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is this 1972 Chevrolet Nova “survivor” with 48,000 original miles, original paint and interior, and numbers matching 350 cubic inch engine. The original owner, Walter Brown, purchased the car from Dailey Chevrolet in San Leandro, California on May 8, 1972. It belonged to the Brown family until I purchased it on April 28, 2000 from the Brown estate. The car had 36,000 miles on it when I bought it, so as a way of preserving the integrity of its “survivor” status, the first thing I did was to remove the heads, intake manifold, carburetor, distributor, air conditioner, smog equipment, exhaust manifold, and differential, all of which come with car should the buyer want to return it to its original state. I also kept (and will include with the car) all of the original brackets and pulleys. Within the first few months of owning the car, I had the following installed: a higher performance cam (330 h.p.), Vortec heads, Edelbrock intake manifold, Edelbrock carburetor, HEI electronic distributor, spark plug wires, Hooker headers, 700R4 overdrive transmission, heavy-duty 3.73 positraction differential, and G/T Qualifier tires. Shortly after, I had all of the front-end bushings replaced with polyurethane, the front coil springs replaced, and upgraded all four shocks. Since then, the alternator, harmonic balancer, fuel sending unit, fuel pump, water pump, radiator, wheel bearings, and brakes have all been replaced. This is a turnkey Nova that could be kept in its current condition and driven daily, or returned to bone-stock. The exterior and interior are both in excellent original condition. The paint is in remarkably good condition for a forty-year-old car, with only a few minor blemishes. At some point (when the car was still in the Brown family), there was a repair made to the area around the lock on the trunk. Besides this, there has never been any other paint or body work done on the car. The only things I did to the exterior were to replace the vinyl top and install Super Sport hood louvers and front and rear Super Sport badges. All of the original trim and molding (exterior and interior) are also in great condition. The original ivory interior is like new, except for a small tear (1 inch) in the driver’s side arm rest. The original radio was replaced with a cassette stereo, but it was done far enough back that the dash did not need to be cut to house the stereo. Since I have owned the car (a little more than 11 years) it has always been garaged and never driven in the rain. Based on the condition of the car when I bought it and the information provided to me by the Brown family, I am confident that the car has been garaged for its entire life. All of the receipts that have been saved (some of which date back to 1973) come with the car, as well as the original owner’s manual and Protect-O-Plate. As the pictures show, the car also has the original license plates. Please see the photographs below and feel free to email with any questions or requests for additional information. Upon winning the auction, $1000 is due with 48 hours, and the balance is to be paid within 7 days. The car is being sold as-is, where-is, and the buyer is responsible for pick-up/delivery. Good luck bidding.
