Vehicle Detail

This is a 1969 Maserati Ghibli 4.7 liter European spec model with the rarer drop trunk lid. The webers are the European DCNLs. It has the rare Hellebore steering wheel with Town and Country horns. The odometer shows 108887 kilometers (67659 miles). Originally it was a white exterior with a red interior. When I purchased the car it had been repainted a dark blue. My sibling had convinced me to repaint it red and after realizing it was not the right color for her, she was disassembled in the mid-80’s for a repaint that never was completed. At the time it was a fully operational Maserati making many a road trip. It was complete with the exception it was missing the spare tire and jack. Now this unfortunate girl has been in my garage for 27 years and it’s time for me to face the facts that I will never get around to finishing her. It’s a long story but the gist of it is …marriage, kids, bills. The body has some rust in the driver’s rocker and the usual small places. From sitting in the garage it has picked up numerous surface scratches and a ding or two. All glass is good. Interior was complete but the leather seats have stitching coming loose. I started to re-dye parts of the interior for changeover to black. Mechanically it WAS great with the exception of the dual power brake boosters (Girling/Lucas…ugh) which were hanging up so they were simply bypassed. They are still sitting in place. Unfortunately the motor has locked up from sitting so I would plan on a total rebuild. I didn’t attempt to free it up figuring it could cause more damage and at 60k+ miles it could stand to be rebuilt. All the a/c parts, radiator, hoses, oil tank & cooler are there. I have new taillights and a new rear window seal that I had purchased years ago. This is a ten day auction because I am only available on the weekends for inspections. This is not an invitation to sightseers; inspections will be limited to serious buyers at my discretion. Winning bidder will make a non-refundable deposit of $1000.00 within 24 hrs after the end of the auction. I have seen too many games played with these auctions and want only serious people bidding. Winning bidder is responsible for all shipping costs and will pick-up the vehicle within 10 days after auction ends. I may hold the vehicle longer if funds are paid in full. This auction will not end early, highest bidder will win. There is no reserve price. Thank you for looking, I hope someone will save this old girl. It was a beast back in the day.On Oct-15-11 at 08:13:09 PDT, seller added the following information: People have been asking if it is a matching number, it is. I have included additional pictures of the engine number and two photos of her in better days. Note that the european center mount antenna is visible in the photos. Another person stated that this is fact a 1967 Ghibli. This is something I always suspected and figured there was a mistake made when it was imported into this country. Thank you
