We bought this motorcycle from AHRMA racer, Gary Cochell, in Visilia, California, in 2000. Gary owned and operated a motorcycle shop there, and at the time, was racing Matchless and AJS motorcycles in AHRMA events on the weekends. The engine number is: 55 18S 1826C and the frame number is 5560C. Everything works as it should on this motorcycle. My husband rides this bike on back roads and cow trails here in northern Colorado. He is 64 years old and this bike still makes him grin. The magneto puts out a hot spark, and the bike starts easily when coasting down the hill behind our house. The kick starter works fine for those young enough to use it. The bike is not competition-ready. The rear tire is checked from age. The primary chain case leaks oil, as most of them do. The bike shifts as it should and still has the original brass gear indicator on the gear shifter. The original jam-pot suspension is still on the bike. The Amal carb works fine but sometimes leaks a few drops of gas when the bike is being ridden. This bike has not been abused. There is no structural or internal damage that we are aware of. There is no title. We will give a bill of sale to the buyer. SHIPPING: We will not crate this motorcycle. You arrange shipping and we will get the bike squared away with the hauler at our home north of Fort Collins, or, in Fort Collins, if necessary. Communication between you and your shipper and between you and us is crucial for a smooth transaction. We are also willing to haul the bike a hundred miles (but not into Denver) at no charge, if you’d like to meet for pickup. PAYMENT: Winning bidder must contact us within 24 hours of end of auction and make arrangements for payment. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of auction. The remainder is due within 7 days of the auction’s end. If no contact is made within 24 hours, we reserve the right to re-list the motorcycle, sell it to the next high bidder, or sell it locally.
