Vehicle Detail
I'm re-listing my completely stock, 1949 Willys Overland Pickup. I've adjusted down my "No reserve" minimum bid to attract those bidders who were interested but concerned with shipping costs. I have also corrected the oil pan leak, so she's tight as a drum with a new pan gasket and rear seal. This vehicle is in complete running condition. She sports her original 4 cylinder "Go-Devil" engine, which runs amazingly strong. I have completed some mechanical restoration over the years but have not really touched much of the bodywork, which is minimal for her age. I think this truck looks pretty nice for being original. You just don't see many of these early trucks, especially in this nice of condition. This vintage pickup has been garaged since I've owned it for the past 35+ years. The odometer reads 52380, but I don't have any idea of its actual mileage. My brother bought the truck off a Portland Or. dealership in 1972. He had planned to pull the engine and replace it with a V-8 and got discouraged when realized that he had to replace the whole drive train. I then bought the truck and started some restoration. Over the years I've completed the following ... 90% re-wired the 6 volt system, new carburetor, new starter, rebuilt radiator, new front spring assemblies, rebuilt steering knuckles, re-bushed clutch and break pivots, rebuilt brake master and wheel cylinders and recently replaced battery and rear main oil seal. I used to drive her twice a year. First to go cut a Christmas tree and second to do the Christmas tree recycle/pick-up with the boy scouts. It was last registered in 2001 and I have the title. To describe any deficiencies... There is minimal rust, although one small spot is rusted through on the driver side floorboard. (see pics). Each windshield pane has a crack. The tail gate hinge appears rusted/seized. I have not tried to free it. After replacing the front springs, the front is now a couple inches higher than the rear (see pics). After re-bushing the clutch/break pivots, there's still some play due to shaft ware. Also, while it was garaged in my fathers garage he thought some of the rust colored primer was rust so he thought it best to spray paint some of the front end, thus the grill and parts of front fenders got touched up (see pics). Thanks dad. I love you. I've added some more pictures. I want to be sure not to misrepresent the condition of the original paint or body. Also, The stock oil bath air cleaner has been replaced with a type vintage KnN. There is also no engine oil filter. Not sure whats up with that. Terms of sale: $250 non-refundable deposit due within 48 hours of auction closing (PayPal preferred). Balance is due in cash or by bank cashier’s check within 10 days of auction closing. If needed, I will store the truck on my property for up to 20 days from the auction closing.
