Vehicle Detail
1965 Chevy Impala SS with full air ride suspension. 396 c.i. with Turbo 350 transmission. Vin decoding shows this to be a V8 sport coupe but not sure if it is original SS or if the big block came in it. The car runs great. Just drove it 1100 mile to Pigeon Forge for the Grand Run so she's road worthy if you can stand the 12 mpg average! The awesome stance comes from a complete air ride system from Cool Cars. It consist of 6 Viair 480 chrome and polished compressors, a 12 gallon tank, and 1/2" air lines running to Slam Specialties bags on all 4 corners. It's controlled by a 10 switch box that has front, back, side to side, see-saw, individual, and pancake abilities. It has a Powermaster 200 amp alternator and huge Optima battery to power the system. The car moves extremely fast for an air-ride system. It lays out flat on the ground for that killer look and tucks the Boss 338 18x8 and 18x9.5 wheels and Nitto 245/40 and 285/40 tires deep into the wheels wells. Out back it looks mini-tubbed but it hasn't been cut. The car is very straight and solid. Paint is good driver quality with a great shine. The clear coat has some flake in it, not too much, just enough to give it some shimmer in the light. Has a new front bumper and eyebrows. New tailights with blue dots ( all 6 in red). Just put new trunk emblem on it last weekend. I don't see any rust issues except for a couple of spots on the hood, and not positive it's rust. The previous owner told me it had quarters put on it. Whoever done the work did a good job. It gets tons of compliments! The interior is decent. I would put a kit in it if I were keeping it. The carpet is new and the headliner looks to be new also. The dash is custom with Autometer Phantom gauges ( all working). It has a Pioneer c/d player and 4 Sony 6x9 speakers and B&M Quicksilver shifter in a custom console. Another opportunity has presented itself to me and I am going to build it rather than this car. I intended to go through this car and make some changes such as Ride Tech control arms and Shockwaves for the front with one of their anti sway bars. I also was going to paint the car satin black and do the interior in original SS white vinyl. I haven't had time to "pluck" the engine out and get rid of the hideous green spray paint yet. Looks like he painted it in the car but I wanted to get it out and clean everything up good and get it back to the proper orange. There are a couple of other small parts under the hood and the air tank that need to be painted also, unless you're into the green! Overall this is a great car that you can start enjoying immediately while making your own personal touches. It's turnkey and ready to go and you won't have to cash out your 401k to drive this classic! PLEASE folks only bid if you have the means to buy this car! It's not fair to the other serious bidders. I will not reveal the reserve on this auction. It is set at a fair price and I don't think you could build this car for what it is set at. Thanks for looking and please call or email with any questions. Jason @ 912-670-1518 Happy Bidding On Sep-21-11 at 23:25:46 PDT, seller added the following information: I got a message from a guy today offering some help decoding this car. According to him it is NOT an original SS car. I stated this in the listing but want to make it clear I am not trying to sale this car as something it is not. It has all the SS badging inside and out, even the door panels. But according to the numbers it is not a true SS. It is however a true V8 Sport coupe and original color was Evening Orchid with Black interior. Also after talking to him, he told me where to look to check the engine code, because some regular Impala's did come with the big block engines. The best I can tell, this is the number on the block ( T0309CWL) . According to what I can find this means the engine came from the Tonawanda plant on March the 9th and it's a 454. I apologize for the incorrect information, it was not intentional. I was going solely on what I was told when I purchased the car. I want to provide the most accurate information I can and if anyone sees something different than what I have found then please let me know. Thanks and feel free to call me with any concerns. Jason
