Vehicle Detail

I bought this motorcycle in 1995 and have not used it very much, but it has always worked flawlessly. However for the last five years the bike was stored outside and there is surface rust on many parts. At least the chain and sprockets and the saddle will need to be replaced, and it will need significant TLC, but I think it has potential to be nice again. Last year I charged the battery and the engine started and ran fine. I have no idea how much this is worth, so I start the bidding at $1. You will need to come pick it up or arrange shipping. I'm in Owosso, Michigan. I accept paypal. Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items. Yes, but I don't have the bolt to attach it and the plastic knob in the back has been reattached with tape. See pictures. I used to have a bolt bought at home depot and it was staying on fine, but I misplaced it. The other cover is there and fine. > Are there any other item's missing? No, nothing I can think of > Electrical...Do the lights, signals, etc work properly? Battery and Battery wire need to be replaced. Otherwise all works fine. The rear-left turn light is broken - I think it can be repaired. I did cut off the battery wire to add a switch, which subsequently rusted. I don't know what came through my mind, that was stupid. The battery had frozen and needed to be replaced. > Does the electrical system charge the battery when running ? yes, it charges fine. However I was riding the bike so seldom (maybe once a year) that the battery was flat when I felt like riding the bike. > Condition of tires? Very good. I bought them new and I would say they have about 500 miles on them. But that was maybe 12 years ago so I don't know if the tire rubber deteriorates with age. As far as I can tell they look good. > Do the tires hold air ? Yes, absolutely no problem. I haven't added any air in the tires in years. > How much rust is in the gas tank ? > Are there any engine protective bars for off road ridding ? I only have what is pictured here, nothing more On Sep-17-11 at 10:07:50 PDT, seller added the following information: I have added high resolution pictures at: http://www.dagartist.com/p653677078 You will be able to download high res pictures and inspect them so you have a very accurate idea of the condition. I don't want anyone to be disapointed. Again, this bike has not been used in years. Obviously all the fluids need to be replaced, and it needs a good cleaning/lubricating. Keep the questions coming if I forgot anything. Thanks! On Sep-17-11 at 10:17:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Tires are METZELER ENDURO 4. There were the best tires when I bought them. I don't see any rust in the gas tank, but there are a couple rust spots on the outside (maybe 2mm each) and a small dent.On Sep-18-11 at 07:08:57 PDT, seller added the following information: One last correction. The Transalp year is 1990 as can be seen on the pictures, not 1988 as I wrote.
