Vehicle Detail
This is a low reserve auction for my 1976 MGB convertible. 4-speed non overdrive, 1.8L 4-cyl. engine. Runs and drives beautifully. The car currently has 80,500 miles on it. I purchased it from the previous owner who had the car since 1988. The car has been meticulously maintained, and always garaged. It has the original paint, and to the best of my knowledge never in an accident. It did have the hood replaced a long time ago because of some dings, and the paint was color matched. I have every receipt for everything put into the car over the last 23 years. The car is rust free with a few minor blemishes shown in the photos. The paint is not perfect but very good for original. I will list any issues with the car below. The MGB had a complete professional engine rebuild in 2003 ($5,300), which was only about 7000 miles ago. The work performed by Taos MG Garage in Albuquerque, NM. The engine runs beautifully! They replaced every part, with from new pistons to a new alloy cylinder head. The cost was over $5000. A few of the newer parts include: New Clutch New electronic ignition system New convertible top (less than 100 miles ago) New suspension including urethane bushings and front sway bar New radiator New dash board (not just a cover). New stainless steel exhaust Electrical systems work perfectly I have all receipts for parts and labor on the car since 1988. I have not totaled all the receipts but it is many thousands over the cost of the engine. Great car, extremely reliable with a new engine rebuild 2003, and rides great with new suspension. Starts , runs, shifts, and drives perfectly. To the best of my knowledge, mechanically and electrically everything runs perfectly. ISSUES The paint is original, not repainted. You can see from the pictures there are a few minor blemishes, but overall the paint is in very good condition. The interior is good, but showing some age. Seats were recovered a few years ago. There is one dime sized hole in the driver’s seat back. The dash is new. There is one tear in the driver’s side door near the window crank. The car has spent its life in an arid/desert climate. There is light surface rust on the bottom of the trunk pan, but other than that the car is rust free. I have color matched touch up paint for the trunk. The tires are good, but they have flat spots from sitting. After it is driven awhile it smoothes out. The car drips some oil when it sits (don’t they all?). Overall a really well maintained car in great driving condition. I would not hesitate to drive it for a long distance. It goes down the highway fine, easily keeping up with traffic at 65-70 mph. I’ve not run it at higher speed limits. I bought the car with the intention of keeping it, however I am 6’5” tall and it is not ideal. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions and a contact phone number if you want more information. Buyer to pay a $500 deposit within 48 hours of the end of auction. The remainder of the purchase price is to be paid via. check or money order within seven days. Shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer to set up. Buyers are welcome to pick the car up. I have a clear NM title.
