Vehicle Detail
ONE OWNER 1968 CAMARO 67,312 MILES FIRST TIME OFFERED NO RESERVE! This is a rare opportunity to own a very original, numbers matching, first generation camaro. I’m listing this car for a good friend of mine who just acquired it from the gentleman who purchased it new on April 5th, 1968 at Honeycutt Chevrolet in Cabool, MO. The original title is still in the original owners name so the purchaser will be the second registered owner. The original owner still lives within 15 miles of where it was sold new. Included with the 1968 title are the warranty book with the Protecto Plate, dealers invoice, broadcast sheet, smog pump pamphlet, and hub cap instructions (owners name has been blacked out in the pictures). This car has the peppy 327 engine and 3 speed manual transmission. This car absolutely runs and drives like a pampered 67,000 mile car should. It’s as solid as a rock. It starts, stops, turns, and rides wonderfully. Most of the miles were logged the first three or four years when it was used as daily transportation, after that it’s been stored inside and driven just enough to keep it in good operating condition. The engine is smooth and very strong, the automatic choke even works great. It has just a bit of piston noise when cold but goes away within a few seconds, nothing of concern at all. A couple of things that make this car unique is the fact that it was sold new with the spoiler package and sport striping usually only found on Super Sport models. It is Corvette Bronze and had one repaint in 1986. The paint is still nice but the preparation is what I would call driver quality, when it was painted it had some very minor rust near the rear wheel well openings. Upon close inspection you can see where a small amount of filler was used, however this was 25 years ago and it’s held up very well so there obviously isn’t any further issues other than a couple of unrelated small bubbles down low, not even through the paint. It still has both of the original T3 headlights as well as the original bumpers and factory deluxe front and rear bumper guards along with all of the original molding, bezels, grill, etc with the exception of the wheel well molding which was replaced with new GM pieces when the car was repainted, the windshield was also replaced. The trunk floor still retains the original splatter paint and is exceptional. All of the lights, turn signal, reverse lights, windshield wipers and even the door buzzer work. The only things I see that do not work are the horn and instrument lights. This car has never been in an accident and still retains all of it’s original GM sheet metal. The panel alignment and body gaps are perfect, just as they left the factory. This is probably nicest original interior I’ve seen. I believe the carpet has been changed but I think everything else inside is original. It still has the original AM radio and the original steering wheel, how many of those survived? All of the seat belts are still in place along with the shoulder belts. The rear speakers however have been changed and are not hooked up so the radio doesn‘t work. It still has the original 14" steel wheels and wheelcovers and the tires are new B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A's.The original owner says he has the original keys, bumper jack, and possibly the spare tire. IF he can find them they will be included in the sale but there‘s no guarantee. It has a locking gas cap but the original cap is also included. As we all know, most of these cars were put through the mill, it’s amazing to find one that has survived this untouched and this low mileage, that still has 95% of the parts that it rolled off the assembly line with 43 years ago, especially considering the original owner was only 17 years old when he bought it. The only noteworthy modifications he made to the car were the rear shackles that everybody had to have back in “the day” and fairly recent dual exhaust. This car has not been ragged out and thrashed then patched back up like almost all of the first generation camaros have been. This car is solid, tight, and absolutely runs out and goes down the road like it should. I wouldn’t be afraid to hop in this car today and go across the country. This is a rare opportunity and a great investment, and although the current paint and body prep do have some imperfections, it is still very presentable and you can enjoy this car like it is or could be taken to the next level with a light cosmetic restoration. The car is currently in my garage in Mansfield, MO and any potential bidders are welcome and encouraged to inspect the car prior to bidding. I think the pictures and description pretty much tell the whole story, however if you have any questions, please ask before bidding by clicking here NO RESERVE NO TRADES Cash or certified funds only. As with any 43 year old car it is sold as-is with no warranty. Remember this is not a new car or a trailer queen, just a very solid and original, low mileage first generation Camaro. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements, however I will do whatever I can to help on this end. U.S. bidders only! $500 down payment due within 24 hours via PayPal. Balance due within 10 Days. Car is in dry storage and can be left here for up to 30 days providing the above mentioned payment requirements have been met. Seller reserves the right to cancel any or all bids and to end the auction early. Thanks and good luck!
