Vehicle Detail
1987 DODGE RAMCHARGER Two-Door SUV This is a great buy and a solid car. The Dodge D-Series was a line of pickup trucks sold by the division of Chrysler Corp. from 1961 to 1980. The body was a traditional stepside bed with distinct fenders as an option. It introduced the first Virgil Exner-inspired “Swept Line” bed where the bed was the width of the vehicle and the fenders were inboard, a cue which has translated to virtually all modern pickup trucks. The D-Series offered a flathead six as the base motor with virtually any larger engine with the exception of the Hemi available as an option. The series was redesigned for 1972 and introduced more rounded looks including the scalloped hood and rounded fender wells. Because they were produced as utility vehicles these second generation D-Series trucks were produced using a lot of galvanized steel with great durability as a result. Today these trucks are still frequently used the way they were when new and are highly prized for restorers because of the availability of high quality original examples. 1972 was also the year that the D-Platform would be introduced. The Chrysler AD-Platrom was used for the D-Series from 1972-1980 and its successor, the Dodge Ram Pickup, from 1981-1993 as well as the Plymouth Trailduster and its cousin, the Ramcharger, were conceived as SUV companions to the trucks built by their respective Chrysler divisions. Based on the same chassis as the D-Series, the Ramcharger shares many mechanical components and a good deal of sheet metal with its roughneck cousin. The Ramcharger was introduced in 1974 and was offered in two- and four-door versions and two- and four-wheel drive. While conceived as a more versatile, toned down workhouse vehicle, it gained popularity in the competition arena. It was successfully used in rallying, most notably by achieving first place at Sno*Drift in 1975. The second generation was introduced in 1981 and was based on the Chrysler AD platform. This is a well cared for Southwestern example of the second generation: a 1987 Dodge Ramcharger two-door, two-wheel drive SUV. It comfortably seats four passengers in two bucket seats and a rear bench with seat belts. The rear contains ample storage space and houses a covered spare tire and jack equipment. This example has been maintained as part of an exceptional collection of vehicles that is housed in climate controlled storage and maintained by two full time mechanics. The odometer shows approximately 80,000 miles and is ready to put on many more. In the last several years, the two-tone paint has been just refinished and the entire interior replaced. It is equipped with chrome wheels, power steering, power brakes, and air-conditioning. It is an extremely solid, sound car, and an excellent driver. Fortunately, local auto parts stores still supply parts for this vehicle so no special supply chain is required for regular maintenance and enjoyment. This is the perfect vehicle for errands around the ranch and a good, safe car for first time drivers. I have recently had both bumpers, the front grill and all four parking lights replaced with new old stock. The truck runs perfectly and the air is ice cold. Have had all the bushings, front and rear replaced as well as an alignment and all the brakes looked at. Should you have any questions at all, please feel free to send me an email and I'll get right back to you. Make sure you look at all 17 pictures. 5.2L V8 rated at 140 horsepower, three speed automatic transmission, front disc and rear drum power brakes; wheelbase: 106 inch As you can see I have an excellent feedback rating.
