Vehicle Detail
1989 Peugeot 405 Mi16 5-speed sports sedan 4-door, silver with gray leather interior. Air conditioning, heated seats, power windows and sunroof, fog lights. The Mi16 has a 1.9 lt, 16-valve dual overhead cam, transversally-mounted 150 horsepower engine. With a curb weight of only 2715 lbs, it is fun to drive—quite peppy and handles very well. New in 1989, it sold for around $23,000 (the equivalent of about $42,000 today). Classic car runs very well and is in good condition. I purchased this car in 1995 from the original owner. Since then I have put 70k miles on it free of any significant issues. I have taken good care of it and it has provided great transportation for me for many years. I have one too many cars, however, and the time has come for “M. Peugeot” to find a new home. The car has never been abused or neglected, uses no oil, and service schedules (including oil and filter changes of course) have been rigorously adhered to (with receipts). All fluids, filters, bulbs, etc. are good. In addition to service, the following has been done (with receipts): • the timing belt and water pump were replaced in 2002 at 92k miles; • upper and lower tie rod ends were replaced in 2002; • the front brakes (rotors, pads, and hardware) were replaced in 2006 (ABS brake system, discs front and rear); • new tires, capitol N5000s, were purchased in 2007 (about 13k miles on them now); • the muffler and tailpipe were replaced in 2009. All work was performed by a certified mechanic and there have been no other major expenses. A few minor fix-it issues await the new owner: the headlight high beams don’t work, the removable radio, for some reason, does not like its “on” code, and the remote door lock transmitter does not work. I have all original manuals and a hardcover Haynes Service and Repair Manual. All original accessories are accounted for & working, as mentioned aboove: heated seats, power sunroof & windows, etc. Body is solid and in very good condition, paint is good (side & hood) to fair only (roof & rear deck), interior good (see images), all interior and exterior rubber, trim, and fittings are good. It still draws attention and compliments. M. Peugeot still has many years and miles left in him and will make a good, classy car for someone
