1974 Lotus Europa Zetec This Europa was owned from 1974 to about 2002 by one owner; the second owner started an upgrade to the Zetec but it took too long and he purchased an Elise instead. I purchased the car last fall to finish the upgrade and resell. The car looks and runs great but there are a few items (listed below) that need attention before the car is completely finished. For that reason I am offering this car at a bargain price. Overall * Car underwent upgrade to Zetec powertrain with Renault NG3 trans over past few years (documented over $27,000 spent) * Car underwent complete body-off restoration in 1988 (documented over $25,000 spent)….complete new interior at that time * Chassis painted in 1988 and all suspension parts x-rayed for cracks Powertrain * “Bullet proof” powertrain: Ford Zetec mated with a 200hp rated NG3, 5 speed Renault transmission * Engine: Brand new 2l Zetec with $1,700 in head work done: port & polish, pulley kit (blue), cam sprockets (blue) 9mm rod bolts, Crower single spring and TI retainer kit, Crower 32mm HD intake valves, Crower 28MM HD exhaust valves, and Crower stage 2 cams: intake 268/.373; and exhaust 276/.391 * The engine has only testing miles on it (~150 miles) * Compression 9.55:1 * Horsepower not dynoed, but should be north of 200 hp * MR2 cable shifter * Racing flywheel * Stainless steel ram horns and new K&N filters * New side-draft Webers with 3 progression holes. Tune is ok only….great on the high end (4500-7000), rougher on the lower end. If an excellent tune cannot be made with the 3 progression holes Webbers, the new owner should go to 5 hole progression Webbers (and sell the new 3 hole ones on Ebay). * New heavy duty starter * New Centerforce heavy duty racing clutch * New Power Master racing alternator & new battery * Used Renault NG3, 5 speed transmission excellent condition; backlash professionally adjusted. * Lotus Shop Manual and document book included Body * Painted with DuPont Imron paint in 1988…looks very good, but has many little scratches and some small cracks * No fiberglass spider cracks * Trunk and engine bay very clean * Halon fire system * Chassis strengthened at firewall and seat belt bar added * Rear anti-sway bar added * G-force racing four-point belts * Tach replaced with Auto Meter unit to accept digital output from ECU (old tach included if desired to modify to work with digital output to keep original look) Brakes, Wheels and Tires * Wilwood dual piston calipers on 10 1/2” vented discs on all four wheels * Koenig Racing Monoblock Ultralights wheels * Tires: BF Goodrich g-force T/A: P225/50/R15 rear; P205/50 ZR15 front (like new) * Parking brake removed in upgrade Cooling * Custom design with new Zetec engine * Original radiator (should be upgraded to aluminum if the car is tracked or auto-crossed) * Heater core shut-off valve needs to be added Exhaust * Max Focus tuned header * Stainless tubing throughout * Dynomax stainless steel free-flow muffler (sound is great) To Do List * Webbers need fine tuning. * Upgrade rear suspension adding lower links with rod ends (to be able to adjust camber) * Needs new speakers * Driver’s window mechanism needs to be rebuilt (sticks) * Steering a bit sloppy—rack should be checked—maybe needs rebuilding * Suspension needs fine tuning (shock and spring rates) * Small seat tear (driver's seat)
