Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a documented 1 of 12 built 1970 F250 4x4 Highboy. Marti's Report included in the photos. The truck has been 90% restored over the last four years and has been fully photo and receipt documented. No cost was spared on a bed off restoration that began in 2007 and is currently at the stage you see her now. New! My apologies I have added several pictures of the engine and engine bay. Thank you to several eBayers who requested the photos. I thought I had added those photos and apparently they didn't make it during the upload sequence. I've spent well over 20 thousand dollars on restoration work not including paint and body work performed by a friend of mine who restores classic cars and trucks at his shop in San Marcos. The truck was built in Kansas City on 1/16/1970 and sold at Don Sanderson Ford in Arizona on 7/14/1970. The truck was then driven to a Ranch in Bonita California where she spent her entire life. I purchased her in 2006 from the 3rd owner. The original owner gave her to his son who sold it to a friend of the original owner who I bought her from. I purchased her for $4500.00 with 128,000 original miles straight and almost completely original except for the engine and chrome Dodge wheels. So why am I selling her? I became deaf in 2007 and injured my back in 2009. I had to retire in May of this year. I have no desire to sell this beautiful classic, but I'm simply physically unable to complete the restoration. I am unable to drive, work on or tune her anymore and my hope is that someone would be interested in saving a HUGE amount of time and money and complete the restoration. This is a genuine "my loss your gain" situation and as you read more about this special truck you will see what I'm talking about. Below is a list of what has been done explaining the huge amount of work, time and money that has gone into this truck. This list is not exhaustive and there are many additional items I have not listed. Outside, Interior and Mechanical: Frame was sand blasted treated with 2 coats of Eastwood rust preventive and 3 coats of chassis black. note: there was only surface rust on the truck. Truck was dismantled, body work completed, primed, hand sanded and painted the original color. 3 enamel color coats and two clear coats and hand color sanded. All aluminum trim was replaced with New exact reproductions from Dennis Carpenter. All new bumpers and stainless steel tailgate latch. Original Stainless Steel JR West Coast Mirrors with Ford Logo and wind guards. New Bed liner by Line-X. The bed was in good condition having only surface rust and dents. 1974 390 X block with high nickel content bored 60 over, blocked, decked, and line honed making it a factor new block with 10 under mains. New pistons/rings, reconditioned long HD rods, and cast crank, New Isky RV cam, new pushrods, new rocker assemblies, and new lifters. All work performed by HDS Machine in Escondido with receipts. Matching 390 heads completely rebuilt with new Cobra Jet sized exhaust and intake valves and a three angle valve job. Have receipts from HDS for all work performed. Engine professionally assembled, timed and leak tested by HDS. Performer 390 intake matched to heads topped with a New Holley 650 with electric choke. New Summit High Volume water pump, New distributor with Pertronics ignition, New Power Master starter and Alternator. Ceramic headers, new aluminized pipes with Stainless steel mufflers and exhaust tips. The New Process 435 4 speed completely professionally rebuilt internally with new pressure plate and clutch. I have all the receipts. Dana 24 transfer case completely professionally rebuilt. I have all the receipts. All new Dana Spicer U-joints. Not one old U-joint was kept. Original leaf springs re-arched to original height with new bushings and squeaker pads all around. The truck is not lifted, but stands tall from the factory as a Highboy should. The HD closed knuckle Dana 44 front is in excellent condition and did not require rebuilding it showed hardly any wear! New knuckle seals and felt wipers. New upper, lower roller bearings and inner and outer wheel bearings. New HD Warn Hubs. New NOS spindles installed. A shear luck find on eBay! Rebuilt manual steering box with an NOS trailing arm and drag link. New Borgeson steering shaft with vibration reduction coupling. New Pro Comp HD gas shocks all around. New brakes were installed at the time I bought her. The brakes work nicely. New 9.75 x 16.5 Mickey Thompson Classic Aluminum Wheels with new lugs and caps. New BF Goodrich 33 x 16.5 All Terrain Tires. Interior completely restored including the addition of original Ford truck bucket seats and dash. I have the original bench seat that is included in the auction. All interior parts are new including window crank mechanisms, handles, steering wheel & horn ring, anti rattle window seals, door seals, front and rear windshield seals and new front windshield. (The windshield picked up a crack on the freeway recently and was replaced with a factory new one) Everything in the interior works perfectly including the wipers, window washer, cigarette lighter, radio, heater and defrost. They should...it's all new including NOS radio, dash pad, heater and dash bezels. I have new after market seatbelts, fuel tank carpeting and a few other parts that have not been installed, but are included with the truck. What she needs, which isn't much; · She could use new brake system. They work fine, but are power drum and for them to stop their best should be replaced. I installed a new master cylinder and one bad wheel cylinder two weeks after I bought her. I have stainless steel brake line brackets that are included in the sale. · Like most 67-72 Ford trucks the battery ledge is bad so the passenger side inner fender should be replaced. I installed a new battery tray and hold down assembly that works just fine until it's replaced. They are all over eBay used for about 100 bucks. · Needs a horn which is the only thing that doesn't work. I don't use it anyway because I'm deaf. My wife confirmed the radio works great! · There are small bubbles in the paint along the bed lines with very minor surface rust that you have to look hard to see. · She had dealer installed air conditioning which I removed. I have all the parts and brackets necessary to re-install the air conditioning, but it needs to be rebuilt. · She does not have power steering and the ride is naturally stiff, but absolutely solid. The truck has less than 3000 miles on the engine, trans and transfer case. The rest of the truck has less than 4000 miles on everything else I drove her for a couple thousand miles before beginning the restoration. The interior is new and has almost no wear at all. The truck drives very well and has serious power at low speeds through 80 miles an hour. She has 4:10 gearing all around and a trac-loc rear that works perfectly. I have never taken her off road or thrashed her in anyway, but have tested the 4x4 system and it works flawlessly. She sits covered 24 hours a day. I'm starting the bid out at a low $10,500.00 which is less than half of my investment. The reserve is much lower than you would think. Please don't ask what the reserve is to be fair to all bidders. I will answer all questions within the day and provide additional information or photos upon request. The truck is located in San Diego County California. There is no guarantee or warranty on the truck, I'm sorry, but what you do to her once she leaves my driveway is beyond my control she is yours and there are no refunds. I will not entertain joy riders, lookie loos, or low ballers, and I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. There is a $500.00 NON-REFUNDABLE Paypal deposit required from the winning bidder due within 2 days after the end of the auction. I will only accept cash in person for the balance, no cashiers checks or money orders. The winning bidder will have 7 days to complete the transaction and pay the full winning bid price. Non-paying winning bidders will be thrashed mercilessly on eBay. I would not hesitate to drive her anywhere. I cannot deliver so if you need to transport the truck you will need to make all arrangements. Check my 100% positive feedback and willingness to work with bidders. All sales are final. I'm not a car salesman, just a guy. I've tried to describe and explain everything about the truck to the best of my ability to ensure you are a well informed bidder. I will gladly answer any questions and explain anything you wish to know about the truck. I can provide more photos upon request. Make no mistake, if you're looking to restore a truck like this you will literally save tens of thousands of dollars rather than begin from scratch... if you can even find one like this. Check the NADA value and just see what they're worth it has built in equity at the price I'm asking. This is a completely unique, extremely rare ( 1 of 12 built in 1970 ) and beautiful truck that turns heads everywhere she goes. People just stop to look at her and I have never had a negative comment...Ever. She is a testament to Ford trucks toughness and durability and will last for another 41 years. Thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy description. The value of this truck will surely increase. My hope is that someone who enjoys classic cars and trucks will win the bid and take good care of her. Thank you so much and good luck bidding.
