Vehicle Detail

The 1976 Pontiac Firebird, second to no other. I must be honest and say that I bought this car because it was and is my dream car. Now, when dream cars become reality, sometimes reality catches up. Reality is I leave in a month and cannot bring the car with me. Here is the information on the car: 1976 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, 120.xxx miles, 6.6L V8 Engine, Pontiac Three Speed Automatic I am the second owner of the car, purchased from the original owner who took good care of the car. Currently on the car are -Mild Street Cam -Moroso Valve Covers -MR Gasket Performance Electronic Ignition -MOPAR Quadrajet Carburetor -Aluminum Edelbrock Intake Manifold -Air Hog Performance Air Filter -Full Headers and Exhaust System (Not too loud, but loud enough). -Aftermarket Vintage Wheels, not Honeycombs, with 15s on all fours however, the rear tires are wider to give it an aggressive look. -AIWA CD Stereo with Rear Speakers. That is basically how I bought it, now for the goodies I have done to it or put in very recently -New Sears Brand Battery -New NAPA NEW Water Pump -New Brake Booster -New Brake Pads and Shoes all around -New Starter -New Shocks all around -Brake Fluid Flush along with speed bleeders up front and new bleeding screws on back. -New Spark Plugs (Bosch) and Spark Plug Wires (Champion) -New Electric Radiator Fan -New thermostat -New parking brake cables and assembly I have also done some underbody work, painting the bottom with 3M undercoating which not only protects against rust but also quiets road noise. I have also gone through the interior and have applied Dynamat Quieting Material to quiet the inside of the car and give it a more luxurious feel to it. I have not had the car for very long but I have done extensive work on it as you can see. I always wanted to own this car and now that I do I must let it go. The car is not perfect but is rare and gets looks wherever it goes. The car was kept in Minnesota for most of its life so it has surface rust underneath but everything is solid. It will need new carpeting as the original is slowly deteriorating. The driver's seat has some rips but repair kits are sold everywhere, starting at about $250. The car's bumpers have started to flake their paint, so they will need to be repainted, I have someone who quoted me $250 to do them both. This car needs to be driven and appreciated, and most likely be someone's dream car or start of someone's dream car. It does need some TLC but can be driven and enjoyed as it is. Feel free to email me and ask me for more pictures of the car. The best way to get in touch with me is through ebay messages on this ad and I'll get back to you, you can also call me or text me at Six F ive one 239 4747 but I do work odd hours so you might not be able to reach me, please leave a voicemail. I do respond to text messages very quickly. Thanks for looking and I hope this is your dream car. On Aug-24-11 at 20:04:22 PDT, seller added the following information:The car has stainless steel mufflers that I am 90% sure are Magnaflow. The car sounds really nice when driving around town. The car does not have AC but the heat does blow warm. The AC was removed from the car by the previous owner who decided to have a true muscle car so he took it off. It has been removed and in the compressor's place sits a bigger alternator, which keeps the radio, lights and every other electrical component in fine working order. Yesterday I changed the rotor and distributor cap in order to smooth the idle a little but one of my connoisseur friends told me the car idles a little rough because of the cam, which sacrifices low rev stability for high rev power, so the car idles a little like a dragster but to be quite honest, I like it that way. I have some pictures of the driver's side floor pans before and after I did the Dynamat laying. The floors on both side are in similar condition. I do apologize for the crummy quality of the pictures but I was working alone and had to steady the carpet with one hand and take a picture with the other. The pictures depict a before and after. On Aug-24-11 at 20:14:25 PDT, seller added the following information:To be perfectly clear, the floor pans both front and rear have some surface rust which was treated with a special Por 15 chemical that turns rust into a benign phosphorous compound. After that, was when I applied the Dynamat Extreme to the floors. The floors while they do have the surface rust mentioned, do not have holes or present any diminished effects to the structural integrity or appearance of the car. I am also going to post more pictures of the undercarriage tomorrow and of all around the car. Please be patient. And thanks for all the input and questions! On Aug-27-11 at 10:17:16 PDT, seller added the following information:Yesterday I was tinkering with the carburetor and found a screw in the throttle plate to be loose. I tightened the screw and it now idles really nice, no more 'dragster' idle. Also, because it has the electric fan, it accelerates so much nicer. I also took the time to grease all of the grease fittings on the front of the car with high quality grease ($20 a tube!). I have just finished washing, polishing and waxing it and it looks amazing, which is why I am now posting more recent pictures that depict a shiny, shiny, shiny car. I am also posting pictures of the interior. I also polished the wheels a bit and they shine so nice. Oh am I going to miss this car....
